Anonymous and it's sister group, Anti-Sec have published personal information on thousands of police officers from Boston and Alabama on behalf of the Occupy Movement because they protect the 1% of the wealthiest Americans. They are also protesting police brutality against the protesters and they chose today because it is the International Day of Action Against Police Brutality.

How can you trust the police to keep private info ON YOU secure, when they can't even secure their own info?

I don't get it. What good does it do to release personal information on officers? What is anyone going to do with this information? I'm against police brutality as much as the next person, but why does this always have to extend to the "fuck da police" attitude? Sure there are asshole police officers; that doesn't mean they are the majority or that they should all be lumped into that category.

Making such gross generalizations about any group of people and turning everything into a black and white issue shows a lack of critical thinking skills. I've never had a problem with the cops--but then again I've never broken the law (aside from mild drug use and downloading music--which, if I ever got caught for, I would deal with it. You choose the action, you choose the consequences. Whether or not you agree with those consequences is irrelevant. And if you disagree with the laws that much, hate the legislators that actually ARE owned by the banks) And if you do hate the cops so much, what do you plan on doing if you're a victim of a crime? Even if you have a gun, if you end up using it you still have to call the cops at some point to cya.

As for the Occupy incidences in NYC, I agree that there have certainly been instances of police brutality, and those officers should be disciplined, and by all means keep filming what goes on to protect each other. But I don't buy that "they work for the 1%!" Anytime you have a large gathering of people, the police are going to be there just in case. The more people you have, the more intimidating it is for the cops, and some cops can't handle it and lash out. I'm not excusing any police brutality, since such people shouldn't be cops to begin with, but the movement needs to work WITH the police, it doesn't do us any favors not to. JMO.

Why not? They always lump me in with the Mexicans, I'm Puerto Rican but they don't care and I always always always get a ticket no matter what I'm doing...and I guaran-goddamn-ty ya it's because of my last name...(My friend who is a Nurse, she get's pulled over 3 times drunk and get's let go because why? She's a goddamn nurse! Or get's out of a speeding ticket because she knows one of the cops!)

Me I get pulled over for having my brights on and get a $110 ticket! And I could go on and on...Then the cop later after court tells me he wouldn't of given me the ticket if I would of just answered some questions...The problem is...He never asked me any questions!

My last name is actually Puerto Rican but they just assume I'm Mexican and always give me shit...I've even been almost taken to jail because I took a ticket out of a cops hand and it fell onto the floor of my vehicle...

He then proceeded to ask me if I had a problem with him and threatened to take me to Jail right then and there because I dropped the fucking ticket! It was a fucking speeding ticket...not a fucking warrant!

I personally, have no respect for these guys...

I fucking am a Vet and even have Vet tags...But they don't give a fuck at the fact that I defended them...They are just out to make the city more money...and the city loves them for it...

I'm done with caring about someone who doesn't care about me...because if they were good cops in this situation and understood that "Protect and Serve" means the "People" and not the "Government" then they would be on our side...Not the other way around...

Thank You! I am no fan of the police, but what does this accomplish? If anything, this will just be used by the establishment to discredit the message of the people who are trying to (I guess) prove a point.

Yea this is fucked up. Why not release information on actual 'bad guys' ? This is pretty close to a cyber attack on civilians in my mind and I am NOT a fan of police.

I see no point to this..
All they've done is get names on a whole lot of cops. Sure, if these were the cops that commited the acts of brutality, then I'm all for it, as they need to be held responsible for their actions.

    Also:

...“We have no problem targeting police and releasing their information even if it puts them at risk because we want them to experience just a taste of the brutality and misery they serve us on an everyday basis,”

What does that exactly mean? Are they wanting someone to act upon this information?
Wouldn't that just make us as bad as the cops?

I admit I can see it as a bit pointless at face value, however, I also must admit that I find it just that they showed them that they too should be weary and that they and their information aren't untouchable. Maybe they now have a sense of what it's like to be made to feel unsafe in the online world when one truly wants to remain anonymous...I'm just counting down until Nov 5 to see if they're facebook threat is carried through :2thumbsup:

Rule of law - if police have access to our private info, shouldn't they be subject to the same kind of scrutiny?

Police officers "protect" the 1%? What?

They protect 100% of the United States Citizens.

Look, I know its easy to view cops as the enemy here, especially with the Occupy scenario. As for the police brutality, as soon as something occurs, 80% will have their cell phones out recording the incident, and the civil lawsuit firms will have a field day.

And by the way, what do you guys think would happen if all these police officers weren't doing their jobs? Would NYC and other cities in the U.S. look like Greece? Italy?....Libya????????

I think its great, gives them just a taste of what they spent their entire careers doing, inconveniencing peoples lives. Think about all the people over the course of these cops careers that they arrested for things that could of easily been resolved with a warning. People who otherwise would have no criminal record other than smoking a joint somewhere or whatever, people carry these records with them the rest of their lives. Sometimes these arrest can ruin someones life, prevent them from pursuing a career. Now these cops at the very least have to go through the hassle of changing SS numbers, perhaps moving, ect. And just maybe it will make them almost as paranoid as they make us.

I am surprised by some of the people in this thread...

This was not in response to a few bad cops acting out.

This was in response to police being ordered to and following the order to attack their fellow citizens who were protesting peacefully....

Show me ONE cop who refused an order to go in and beat and arrest protestors and THEN, and ONLY then, can anyone say shit about some of them being good...

Good people do not beat and brutalize their neighbors.

One thing nobody has brought up yet...

Nearly every police officer can look up YOUR INFORMATION. Almost anything on you that they choose...

But YOU CAN'T even question them. And sometimes they're in riot gear and you can't even tell WHO THEY ARE. No name tags, ids etc.

So in this case, they've turned the tables and released to the public just a TINY BIT of the info about them that they can see about YOU. So what's the BIG DEAL? Tit for Tat, baby!

I suppose the only possible threat to the police is that if they misbehave, and someone gets their name, they can be called out in various ways for their actions.

OTHERWISE, as a GROUP, the police are untouchable since they cover for each other with lies. That is the real threat towards civilians, the fact that as a GROUP, the police represent the greatest threat to our freedoms, especially the freedom to protest peacefully without a police riot. And anyone who doesn't realize that shouldn't even be on this site.

Oh, just to touch on something...

Those cops, are beating our brothers and sisters... ALL of whom, are someones' child.

I think anyone who thinks that cops beating, macing, punching, kicking, pepperspraying thier fellow citizens is ok, but sharing INFORMATION isn't, should step back from the computer and go tell their superior that they need a holiday, because they just blew their cover....

Well, either that, or turn the computer off and get to bed before mommy comes in and takes away the computer for them staying up past 8....

I shall endeavor to make this clear....

Beatings and physical abuse, are ALWAYS worse the having your 'privacy' invaded...
