Sorry, I was at a conference and just got back---only now checking in. I'm sorry your teacher changed the criteria. Too bad she opted for intellectual constipation rather than encourage you all to expand the parameters---
I think you demonstrated great initiative with your query. And, yes, I think you got cheated. Hopefully, you will hold that feeling somewhere and remember to keep your self more open when it's your turn to be in charge :)

I asked my brother what his take on Woodstock was. He said it was the first time in his life he felt Real Hope because he was surrounded by people in his age group who were willing to leave themselves open to change, who were willing to really challenge the current status quo. (We're Quakers and part Ojibwe--Chippewa in the U.S.--we're used to being kind of marginalized and he felt this was the first time he felt like part of something more universal than our small sector).

FYI: My brother, in his 50's, still with ponytail and beard, is a city engineer who singlehandedly designed the bike-path system for a city on B.C.'s West Coast. I coordinate a home hospice/respite programme for an inner city demographic in Ontario. We both volunteer with Habitat for Humanity.

What I think I'm getting at is that nomatterwhat we need to believe that even if it's only in microscopic ways, one on one, we all really do make a difference---we probably won't change anything big, but we can do what we can to make any little part of the whole better.

    Blessings upon thee, Opium Eyes.
