Well, if you were in the movie, then you were at Woodstock, by default.
Back in the day, one out of every three hippies you met said they were at Woodstock, which would have meant that there were at least 6 or 7 million people there. As Arlo said, "heh... lotta FREAKS!"

Personally, I was not there. I was hitching to Colorado about a week before it happened. A car going the opposite direction (east) on I-80 stopped and a couple of freaks got out and asked my friend and I if we would like to go to a big festival in New York. We said "No thanks, we're meeting friends in Boulder," and they drove off into history. That was as close as I came. Missed it by THAT much...

I envy anyone who went. If I had a time machine that would be my first destination

I was 9, I was in the UK, the World was much bigger then, but still, the music and spirit still transcended to the 'little isle' and the message was gratefully received

Just interviewed a writer/musician who was at woodstock and involved in the protests and activism of that era. Really cool stuff. He was a musician so he went to woodstock early enough to get parking!!

I posted the podcast with my interview with Glenn Weiser who was at woodstock and talked about it. I can't place the link here but I figured some of you might want to check it out so you can just search countrcultur the podcast and you should find it. Hope you enjoy.

It was so cool for me to talk to someone who was there and i plan to talk to glenn again about his experiences in the activism of the time and his seeing john lennon and meeting allen ginsberg and others. so freakin' cool!!

I first saw the notice of the woodstock festival in the mens room of a health food resturaunt in San louis Opisbo Ca. I didnt have the inclination to hitch to new york, but a few friends did. They came back different people and somehow the better for having gone. For myself I never question not going, because the years have shown me I wouldnt be here noting this if "anything went differently" than the way it did. I may have been better off for it or worse off. To me second guessing the way life goes down is a foolish waste of time.

I was 17, living in Ohio, just started experimenting with LSD and growing my hair long. Walking to a friends house I happened to see a psychedelically painted school bus pulled up to the pumps at the corner gas station, so being naturally curious I went over to talk to the 'crew'. Turns out they were headed to a big music festival up in NY state, and they invited me along. So I got on the bus and the rest is history. :D

Well the feelings mutual, because I'd trade memories for youth any day.
