Nine members of Congress have sent a letter to Obama asking that he stop the ongoing war on medical marijuana dispensaries. Most of those signing were representatives from California, including one Republican. The four US attorneys in California have sent out letters to dispensary owners and their landlords threatening them with shutdown and confiscation of their assets and real estate.

The Feds have also been cracking down on cannabis dispensaries in other states as well.

The Congressmen are asking for marijuana to be rescheduled as a drug with medical value, and for Obama to support the Medical Marijuana Patient Protection Act, which would prohibit federal interference in state-run medical marijuana clinics.

    * sighs * Doesnt surprise me. Buricratic political bullshit. I dont understand why so many people thought that just because obama wasnt another old white dude, meant he wasnt a f*cking politician. When will people realize race/ skin color doesnt matter.

Yep- very sad indeed. I wish people would realize how much potential is in this plant, so many willing to eat so much pills instead.

Thanks for reminding me orison, always good to remember broken promises. Obama really turned out to be a let down, not nearly enough change for me. But its time the people become the change we want to see and thankfully that change is on its way one way or another. I was really disappointed about the feds cracking down again and again in states that have passed med. marijuana initiatives, a few steps back for progress.

Why would anyone think one person elected as prez could change everything?
Our government is set up so that can't happen. Blaming Obama shows a lack of understanding of the system.
Do we want the position of president to circumvent checks and balances?
IMO this crackdown isn't coming from Obama, it's much more deeply rooted.
    G. Bush would have done (well did) way more damage.

As one who has spoken to the Board of Supervisors in my county against the recently imposed ban on outdoor cultivation, all I've got to say is "good luck". The Fed is banging people hard out here. Our board held a "special" meeting to vote on it and the only private citizen attending was the one citizen in favor of the ban. All of us who have opposed the ban were not notified...until AFTERWARD!!!

We've submitted a formal signed complaint to the Board and the DA noting violations of the Brown Act today and will submit papers to the Grand Jury.

If you want to change policy my friends, you have to act.

I'm not so sure they aren't aware of its potential. Could be why there's so much effort to keep it illegal. A cheap treatment for so many problems- like appetite problems to insomnia to whatever else would cut into the profits of the drug companies.
