:daisy: Hey there sunshine ! So I've heard many of my peers complain about our generation, saying how they were born in the wrong decade and should have been a hippie in the 60s. They can't stand violence, hatred, rights being taken away, materialism. I only have one question to those who can relate: What are you going to do about it ? I'm tired of always talking about ideas, taking no action. Waiting for some other guy/gal to make the first move. It doesn't have to be huge, but even a mini hippie-revolution within your heart: change your attitude ! Think positive ! Make sure that every person leaves your presence feeling better than they had before. Let's stop with the complaints, criticisms, and self-pity, and start loving and dancing and singing and laughing ! Before we talk about a large-scale revolution, it all has to start somewhere right ? Why not your own mind. Your own heart. Your own being. your energy will flow to others, your joy will be infectious. Then, maybe someday, we'll get our chance to unite in peace and love.
I'm starting to think the hippies are the reason we're in the fucking terrible shape we are in. The baby boomers fucked the world up, man. At least that's who I'm blaming it on until I'm old enough that the young'ns can blame it on me. lol
I guess what I had in mind isn't an exact copy of the hippie movement, but more of a Consciousness Movement. A spiritual revolution. I'm not so arrogant where I think I can cause this, but I'm also not vain enough to think that something like this is not possible.
The consciousness of the earth *is* shifting, at least that's the general consensus. Throw good intent out there into the universe, you may see it!
There is people who are revolting, you see them in the streets all the time... so smelly..(let them eat cake) According to your age on here, you are still young, just worry about keeping love in your heart and then when you are able turn that love into helping other people and shaping the world into a more accepting and beautiful place. And lets add something about bringing down big banks as well, because that seems popular lately.
Tell them to grow some balls. You couldn't ask for a more exciting time to be alive. And yes, all through history you can go "those guys had such fulfilling lives compared to me!", but on average, you're much more likely to be fulfilled today, or to be able to make the conscious decision to be, than EVER before. Not to mention the excitement of participating in reckoning the future. Each and every person is important in determining it, except for those worthless assholes who tell you that their vote doesn't count and the man controls it all anyway. Yeah, the man does, cause you're an apathetic fuck who's great at complaining but can't even hold a fucking sign or some shit. Yeah, a few guys control it all, from your civil rights to your money. Because you let them, and because of this stupid fucking self fulfilling prophecy of like two guys controlling millions. Standing up doesn't mean killing people, or rioting, or anything. All you have to do is say fuck this, it's wrong and we won't take it. And then more people say that. And more. It's all you've got to do, and realistically, all that can be done, because you can't build something newer and better with violent or other old means. If the cause is just go tell people about it and make them understand, and understand that they too need to tell people. Also, the 60's where very violent, the hippies just lived under a peaceful rock while everything went to shit around them, aside from a few. Demonstrations helped end the vietnam war..... And you think that was peaceful? Dozens of people shot accross various demonstrations..... organizations like the weather underground (certified badasses, in my book) blowing shit up..... in other "civilized" countries, organizations like the IRA blowing shit up..... Shortly after, afghanistan.... the entire time, with the whole world sitting under a cloud of danger, with nuclear holocaust the press of a button away, one temper tantrum for one of the many spoiled babies wielding all that power. Yeah, shit's fucked now, and it was fucked then, it's just different. Different rights are gone, and different ones exist. Some things are more official, but back in the day you wouldn't have gone to guantanamo, you would have been beaten to a pulp in the police station basement and buried out back of the chief's house. So explain to your friends that the grass is not greener on the other side, in fact there is no grass because time only goes one way, and wishing you lived in the past is a waste of the time you do have. If they care so much about peace, they better fucking be doing what the people they idolized would do and go occupy, farm, build, fix things, improve things, convince people, spread peace and love, instead of bitching like the children that they are. That's my rather non-peaceful take on the whole thing :2thumbsup:
what i WANT is a world not dominated by the tyranny of aggressiveness. where infrastructure is measured by its usefulness AS infrastructur and its harmonious intigration with nature, not by its ability to concentrate little green pieces of paper. to live closer to nature without having to indenture myself to things and ways of thought that are destroying everything to do so. i totally agree that struggle as an end in itself, and as a way of life, is insanely over rated.
greed is the problem everyone wants "their share" of the bread but doesn't want to help make it http://www.childrenstory.info/childrenstories/thelittleredhen.html
Nostalgia always seems to make things seem romantic...there was even more racism, homophobia, sexism and discrimination back then than there is now.
Stop bitching and start a revolution. Bwhahaha Jk But for serious, your peers and yourself will grow out of this stage
Tell that to Nathan Hale, Capt. Howe, George Washington, Patrick Henry, John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Samuel Adams, John Hancock, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, etc….. Hotwater
