Earthquake mag7.3-7.6 eastern Turkey

The depth seems to be only 7 km which I have a hard time believing, there would be huge damage...the city Van with 500000 habitants is too close...remember the city of Bam in Iran was up to 70% destroyed by a mag6.6 in 2003.
