You know this really isnt such a bad idea. If you can get that thing set off before it gets taken away your friends or family will know what happened to you.

Or you can do the really smart thing and tell you family and friends
where you're going to be and what it is you're going to be doing.

BEFORE YOU GO AND DO IT !

That way if they don't hear from you they can probably guess you were
    arrested

Why don't they just name the app "I want to be tracked by the DHS as a potential terrorist"?

That at least would be a much descriptive name.

The fact is that today NOTHING IS FREE even android phone apps.
There is always some sort of trick that they can use to make money.

These "Apps" even the "free to download" have to be approved by Google
for distribution. If not, they just do NOT get noticed. There is an entire
standard they must adhear to before they can submit the application.
And doing this means that the makers of the Android phone stay in control
of what you put on the phone and how it will be used.

    Literally hundreds
of applications every day are written by programmers and so few of these
    apps are every noticed.

i think people have profited from other people's misfortune all throughout history. it's as old as mankind probably. so nothing new there. and the masses are idiots, that's a given. they are willing to expose their whole private life to global corporations just to have e.g. GPS (completely useless for everyday life) on their cell phone, or to befriend a bunch of complete strangers on the internet. enough said.

You know there was "profiting" when someone using the name "Sly"
supplied hookers for the soldiers during a war.

There is "profiting" when during the 1998 ice storm left thousands of
farmers without electricity and the cost of generators increased 800%

Then there is "profiting" from large transnational companies like when IBM
supplied the Nazis with the punch card reader system

At the base of what caused the problems of today are 2 (perhaps 3) things.

    1) The modern market's greedy way of creating "dependency" amongst the
general population. (ie. Without it you have no job, no food, no home)

    2) The general public's lack of real skills caused by laziness to learn.
(ie. I can make my own bread without a bread making machine.
I can't tell you how many people are just fucking amazed I can do that)

    ** 3 **
Remember I said perhaps "3 things."
That 70s generation came to power. Look at the bulk of the politicians that
are in power today. They are all the age of what "Foreman, Kelso, Jackie
    and Donna" would be.

It was never older brother of Woodstock's generation that caused
these problems. It was the little brother that listened to disco, snorted
coke and fucked anything that moved without asking its name first.

The "ME" generation didn't give a shit about anyone or anything except
itself. These motherfuckers are now the CEOs, Chairmens and Big Bosses.
And they are just going to keep taking everything they can. While
hypocritically claiming moral superiority and labeling and punishing
everyone that refuses to be overworked and underpaid as loosers and
    communists.

There are 2 ways to end this problem.
    A) Walk away from the entire system by just going back to the land.
    B) Cut the head off of the Disco Duck.

The app could be a secret feature built in. I'd like to have a feature on the phone that when you push a button it automatically starts recording and downloading to a outside source. You never know when a case can be your word against the cops and having a record of it would be useful.

Google built an techno-financial empire based on this "free app" model.
And it's well known that Google cooperates 110% with the NSA.

There is no conspiracy, backdoors, illuminati or shape changing aliens.
They just got to keep YOU dependant on their technology so they can
    keep an eye on you.

    It works like this...

    • Android phone #155 just sent a message using the "Help I'm arrested" application.

    • Andrdoid phone #155 is registered to " XXXX XXXXX " from Cleaveland Ohio and lives at 123 Any street.

    • The message was picked up at celluaire switching tower #BBE8234 which is located on the corner of 5th street and Elm st in lower Manhattan

** Cross referencing with any current data on this area. **
A protest is currently going on against the government in this area.

    RESULT = FLAGING
** " XXX XXXXXX " of 123 Any Street from Cleaveland Ohio as a possible disident and person of interest.**

I've got new for you, kids ... "they" have been tracking cellular phones for years - ever since cell phones came equipped with the
"GPS" feature, all's they needed to do so, was the cellular phone to be turned on. There is debate as to whether or not the GPS feature has to be turned on or off as well; but I'm of the opinion that the phone can be located, regardless of whether the GPS feature is turned off or on - the phone just has to have the GPS chip in it. I've always felt that the GPS On/Off aspect was to give one a false sense of security if it was turned "off" in the settings. I mean, let's get serious folks - we're talking about Big Brother here.

I got the following information from the website of "e-how":

"In order to track cell phones, there are two necessities--a GPS (Global Positioning System) and the satellites. The GPS can provide real-time and historical navigation data. It makes use of the GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) Network. The GPS system receives signals from the satellites, which it uses to track down the location of the cell phone."
"To track a cell phone, it has to be "On." There is no need to perform any activity, such as phone usage, emailing or text messaging, for it to be traceable. The way the GPS tracking system works is through a triangulation process, by finding the cell phone's position on a given plane with two known visual landmarks. The closest GPS satellites calculate the location of the cell phone through microwave signals via the GNSS network. To track a cell phone, the GPS satellites map the location of the cell phone as it receives the signals from three or more GPS satellites. When the signals are strong, it is easier to track down the accurate location of the cell phone; however, when the signals are weak, it is difficult to locate its position accurately."

"There are also online cell phone tracing providers that trace the history or current locations of the cell phone, as well as provide information on who owns the cell phone, the owner's address, household members, possible relatives, phone carrier, line type, previous addresses, approximate age, associated phone numbers and more without using GPS or Wi-Fi network to track locations. This method traces the location of the cell phone by using a reverse directory. Some individuals make use of cell phone tracing to know the location of the cell phone as well as the person in possession of the cell phone. Law enforcement officers can also take advantage of phone tracing in their investigative work to find locations of criminals whose cell phone numbers they are tracing."
    _____________________________________________________

One final note: tracing and tracking is really the least of our worries.
One giant shot of an EMP wave, and every cell phone, everything electric; every computer; everyTHING - will be fried; and our world will be reduced to living without all of that. How does that grab ya?!

Well I think that businesses are capable of making ethical decisions that are not for profit.

I mean if you've got all that money surely you would like to use it positively. I guess we are going to have to wait to see, wont we?

    Oh yeah and......

heres a funky tune for you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R890wISHwG4

    and heres the lyrics:

    I, met a boy, wearing Vans, 501s,
    BCG's, nipple rings,
New tattoos that claim that he
    Was OGT,
    back in '92,
    from the first EP.

    And in between
    Sips of Coke
    He told me that
    He thought
    We were sellin' out,
    Layin' down,
    Suckin' up
    To the man.

    Well now I've got some
    Advice for you, little buddy.
    Before you point your finger
    You should know that
    I'm the man,

    And if I'm the man,

    Then you're the man, and

He's the man as well so you can
Point that fuckin' finger up your ass.

All you know about me is what I've sold you,

    Dumb fuck.
I sold out long before you ever even heard my name.

I sold my soul to make a record,

    Dip shit,
    And then you bought one.

    I've got some

    Advice for you, little buddy.
    Before you point your finger
    You should know that
    I'm the man,

    If I'm the fuckin' man

Then you're the fuckin' man as well
    So you can
Point that fuckin' finger up your ass.

All you know about me is what I've sold you,

    Dumb fuck.
I sold out long before you ever heard my name.

I sold my soul to make a record,

    Dip shit,
    And you bought one.

    All you read and
    Wear or see and
    Hear on TV
    Is a product
    Begging for your
    Fairly dirty
    Dollar

    Shut up and

Buy, buy, buy, my new record

Buy, buy, buy, send more money
    Fuck you, buddy.
    Fuck you, buddy.
    Fuck you, buddy.
    Fuck you, buddy.

I cannot believe I am playing devils advocate for "help I'm getting arrested" but here we are :2thumbsup: Gives the creators a high five!

It's almost like taking advantage of a future possible world trend for protest. Wouldn't want to go out there without your phone now!

...perpetual protest, I'm also beginning to fear...:(

Orwell had no idea the electronic age. Can the internet save us?

    Lotta stupidity still out there.

Bilking stupid folks outta their money is the American way, is it not?

How can a reasonably sane person not be a cynical fuck in all this?

The concept of protest itself could be serving as a sort of placebo button that placates potential revolutionaries into not acting. Established politicians voicing support for the occupy movement raises some suspicions with me.

Developing a sort of cottage industry that caters to protesters reeks of exploitation.
