1. The Hipforums announces it first ever fundraiser. After nearly 30 years online, we must ask our members and guests to help support the website. Thanks to years of ongoing financial support of our members, advertisers and volunteer admin staff, we have been able to keep the forums alive.

Now we must ask for help as available funds have all been used for our Internet server and other fees.

So please donate any amount to our PayPal account donate@Hipforum.com to keep the site going. If we can get enough for a few months fees, we won't need to nag you again!

Also you can find a book called: Lipsmackin Vegetarian Backpackin

Other than that try picking up a cheap dehydrator and making your own meals. I am planning a 5 day trip along the 7 devils loop in Idaho this summer and I will be dehydrating and preparing all my own foods.
    Including:
Lots of pasta and veggie sauces.
    Oatmeal
    Lots of G.O.R.P.
Brown rice with Stir Fried veggies.
Dried apples, apricots, bannanas and whatever else fruit suits my fancy.
    Peanut butter and Tortillas.
    Couscous mix and veggies
    Hummus mix and tortillas.

If you are an avid backpacker, buying a dehydrator is a great day to create some awesome meals and save some money.

Oh! Cliff Bars are great energy boosters and they are vegetarian/vegan, oh so tasty too.

    Great Luck.

-Tofu jerky! I've made this. It's not bad.
-nuts, seeds, dried fruit. Dried fruit is important because it has so much natural sugar for energy.
    -noodles/pasta
    -oatmeal and other fast-cooking grains
-flax is great. that fat will help sustain you
-granola bars. Make your own if you don't eat honey...
-I brought Mr.Noodle with me the last time I went. It's fast.
    - bring bouillion cubes with you to season. Keep some in your first aid kit as well as emergency food.
    -possibly popcorn
-you can buy dehydrated vegetables in bulk bins and toss those in - anything! Same as fruit.
