Okay heres the deal. Were studying drugs for my Psychology class (lol) and my class has a project, we were put into groups and were each given a drug to study to present to the class. I was very lucky and got Psychedelics. So, I'm throwing together a movie/ppt type thing over LSD, Shrooms, and DMT and I would like to emphasize the positive properties as much as possible, so if any one has some info that they think is important to educate people with, I would love to hear. I'll try to post it on here when it's done, but I don't want my name on the web, so I'll probably make a second version for this forum.
Check out DMT: The Spirit Molecule and the recent Johns Hopkins studies on Psilocybin/psilocin. DMT: The Spirit Molecule and the documentary movie by the same name have all the info you'll ever need on DMT. Also check out LSD: My Problem Child for a good source...
You can bring up the shmanistic use of shrooms and DMT in the form of ayahuasca throughout the centuries. LSD's use in psychotherapy, some of the notable cultural figures who used LSD (Francis Crick, The Beatles, Steve Jobs)
I know for sure I'm going to reference Jobbs, Leary, The Beatles, and Hoffman. What should I say are the negative effects? Because bad trip of course could be one, but everyone overemphasizes the likely hood of a bad trip.
I dunno, you can list all the generic responses: bad trips, flashbacks/hppd, eliciting pre disposed mental illness.
George Harrison said something interesting on the Scorses documentary, that 'bad' trips were VERY rare back in the 60s because the substance was new to everyone. He said in the current generation the media has put so much paranoia into people's heads about 'bad' trips, that a lot of first time users will inevitably have a bad experience.
They had a bad trips station set up on the haight ashbury in the 60's where people could ride their freakouts out, a bad trip is probably rare when you are in your prime and in the Most popular band of all time.
Nat Geo documentary on LSD: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJrRBWbtJZ0?t=32m At about 32 minutes in, they talk about how LSD seems to remove preconceived ideas & stereotypes that the mind uses as a filter. In a sense, LSD allows you to see the world as it truely is. I hope your presentation opens the minds of your class to the positive aspects of psychadelics. Maybe you should bring samples to class? (just kidding) :sunny:
They don't really fit considering they both had mental illness not related to and prior to their LSD use, just exacerbated by it.
oh Huxley is also a big one... I don't know what I'll actually fit in, it's suppose to be one of those small presentations, there's just soo much to talk about tho... haha, dosing the class would be so much easier
"What looks like a duality which is the rug vs. the wall is really a continuum of rugwall, and rugwallceiling, and rugwallceilingpeople, and rugwallceilingpeoplefruitmusic." :2thumbsup:
Where on this site can we post an essay? I have one I wrote against the war on drugs it's about 6 pages.
BL sez "We put together this long ass PP presentation with graphs and shit but.. never mind. Try this." Most awesome show and tell ever.
