There's nothing wrong with hunting , people have to eat . While I don't agree with trophy hunting , as long as the animal is taken for consumption it's the law of nature and food chains . Animals hunt each other too you know .

In fact , if it weren't for controlled hunts to thin the herds and control deer population , more deer would die every year from disease and starvation , from having to compete to much for food .

It's nature , we didn't make it or its laws . Yet we must survive in it . And the only way we have survived this long on earth , is by taking and accepting our part and role on the food chain . I have a deer in my freezer right now . It's healthy , lean and a great alternative to beef . Especially in these tough economic times and rising out of control meat prices . It cost me about 30 cent per pound , instead of six or seven dollars .

This is because we killed off the wolves, the natural top of the food chain.

    .............................

My take on hunting in general..... If it's done for food to feed the family/tribe, I have no problem with that, as long as it's done in a sacred manner and the whole animal is utilized in some way. Walking into the woods drunk with a semi-automatic and blasting some trees hoping a deer falls out dead is not a sacred manner. (this is basically how they "hunt" around here.)

We killed off wolves because we are the natural top of the food chain. People seem to forget that we are animals too and we are "natural". We are animals just like deers, dogs, bears, etc but we are just better adapted for survival. I don't mind people hunting as long as the animals body is used in some way besides a trophy.

We didn't kill the wolves for food though...... their deaths were not honorable and was done out of fear. As far as humans being the top of the food chain, without guns we wouldn't be the top, we would be part of the food chain.

That is true and unfortunately people do kill animals for purposes other than survival. People have been using tools almost as long as they have been around though. Our tools have just become far more advanced than they used to be.

why do people think that other people (hunters) KILLED OFF wolves and shit for shits n gigs?

most hunters and most people who hunt that i know, or have met, respect nature and have fun doing it. so what if you enjoy the SPORT of hunting? it is a fun thing.

it's like someone who is really good at basketball - so good that they always beat their opponents, but shoves it in their face that they win - no one will want to play them.

just the same with hunting - if you try and kill everything, you won't have anything to hunt later on.

for those of you whining about people enjoying hunting, get off your pedestal - the food you eat when you buy it at the stores probably never had a chance to roam free or to compete with man (all of man - including our guns) in the wild.

ultimately hunting is about conservation - of ALL natural things. 'killing off wolves' to increase our odds doesn't exist. we used to kill wolves when they'd attack livestock, but most of them are gone now because of YOUR hippie asses whining in suburbia. human population displaces natural roaming of wolves.
