Google's initial intent was to create a database on everyone that used it...... Same as Facebook.

Yes, google DOES have a database of everything we've google, every thing we click on using their search, every website we go to after a google site, before going to google, everyone we contact thru google, etc., etc.

Yes, they are just as insidious as Fuckedbook.

i dont wanna read through all the posts to see if someone was sensible enough to say that the only use the cookie is for like when you go on a blog's website for example and you see the the lil F logo and it shows how many people 'liked' it. if you wanted to 'like' that website/page it'd automatically connect to your facebook if you have that cookie.
having a cookie doesn't mean they're tracking you...

I was going to install the "Google +1" extension for Chrome when I saw this in the privacy policy:

They are no better, yes. It just seems that people like Google more.

Also, there's Scroogle which fully anonymizes searches using the Google engine. Strongly recommended over Google's standard. (<- for those who don't know of it yet.)

Furthermore, in Google Chrome, one thing they've done right is in chrome://flags . "Block Third Party Cookies Without Exceptio"... well, err, nevermind. In the latest developer build (17.0.942.0 dev) it's now the "Block third-party cookies and site data" checkbox in Cookie Content Settings. It blocks third party cookies without exception: if they exist (like a Facebook or Google cookie), blocked from being read on a page with a Facebook or Google Plus plugin that checks to see if one is logged in which would then of course allow for interacting in one way or another. Arguably awesome for privacy / not being tracked.

Facebook is much worse than I thought. It's shit like this is why I never give out private information like that, even to big social networking sites. I did sign up for it at one point just to keep up with friends but I never used it excessively like a lot of people seem to. You can't even fully delete your account either, that always seemed strange to me.

I don't have Facebook. I am not a big fan of people that have to post something about their bankrupt lives every 30 seconds. This just goes to show that people should read the user agreements before getting upset. I don't think FB has grounds to be spying on you, but they aren't alone in spying on you. I am soooo glad that my GF doesn't use FB on this computer anymore. They don't need to know what I like to do online. I believe tere is a connection with FB and the junk mail I used to get. That is the only explanation I can come up with for some of the people getting my address. If FB spies on you, then undoubtedly, they can get the information when you type in your name, address, phone number and other crap when you type it into another site say, to order something. SKETCH!!

I have a Facebook page; I only have it too keep in touch with family members. I have a sister in Grand Rapids I don't get too see all the time. I also have friends from high school. And I like being able to post pics and see photos of my nieces and any new art work my sister does. I have an aunt and cousins on there, I never get too see. I don't care what websites Facebook sees, it's not like I'm doing anything bad online. Yeah I come here and talk about pot. That’s the only thing, I would consider bad

Really!? For me, it's always rich kids bragging about how great their lives are and posting a bunch of pictures. Don't understand why I still have all of them on there. 99% of my Facebook "friends" aren't people who actually KNOW me. More like people from high school who thought they knew me, but don't care anyway.

I've found it helpful on a few occasions. Getting in contact with someone I haven't talked to in a long time, and then building off of that. Eventually I want to delete my profile, though. I think it's completely ridiculous to imagine a lifetime Facebook. o_0

i got rid of my facebook right before the last update. i don't miss it one bit. it is possible to stay in contact with people without one. i really don't see the point in it besides what it's becoming, a tracking device.

Well I think I'm gunna get off facebook now...

It's just an easy way to keep in touch with many friends spread across the states.
And yeah, I "don't have anything to hide" but the fact "they" know all about me, is weird & creepy.

How do you get the cookies off your computer once you've deactivated it?
