    Ok.

Release date for swtor has finally been announced: December 20, 2011
And now I'm officially letting myself be excited.

    Star Wars, Bioware, MMORPG

If anyone can do this right, it'll be Bioware.
I've been turned off of mmorpgs for several years now, but I can't deny that I'll be all over this when it comes out.

    Anyone else?

Well for one the release day wasn't officially announced.. it was leaked.

Yes I will definitely be buying this and hope to god it does not blow.. it could be like other Star Wars games and could include repetitive mobs and mindless killing... I haven't read too much up on the mmo but i sure do hope it includes being able to fly ships and battlecrafts.. or even better.. man a walker :D

it looks very disappointing to me.

    sarcasm:
yeah lets keep getting further and further AWAY from the original trilogy...
because that's what i fucking want Star Wars to do...
    /sarcasm

    Doing stress test beta again.
Servers are so packed that there's a queue on most of them.
NDA is lifted so maybe I'll try and get some screen-shot today.

Knights of the old Republic was terrible, there hasn't been a good Star Wars game since Wing Commander.

I wouldn't know, I got bored with it after half an hour.

Maybe that's because you have ADD. You can't give up on a game after a half hour especially since games like this are really long.

It's an mmo, I'm willing to bet the gameplay/quest system/interface/pvp are all the same or extremely similar to all the other mmos, so yeah... you can definitely tell if you will like the mmo within a half an hour. Sure you may not have a grasp on pvp, crafting or end game, but if you don't like playing it then that doesn't really matter.

If that were true, I'd have never got into a lot of games that I now love like Mass Effect and Fallout, which are both long term games. You can say it's not to your tastes but you have to admit the story was written well. If it was the same as all the others it would never have become so popular.

I play adventure games. So the chance of me being able to sit through even one of those and having ADD at the same time is approximately <0.0000001%

That's a pretty specific number. But yeah, I could understand that because adventure games are full of adventure and if you don't get a certain amount of action right away, you check out. All I'm saying is, you're missing out by being impatient.

If I'm patient enough to finish Myst I-V and the Rhem series, I'm pretty sure I have the patience for a game where I run around chopping limbs off robots with a glowing sword. Just because someone dislikes your game, doesn't mean there's something wrong with their head.

    I'm liking this game.
It's story driven and not sandbox. I wasn't sure what I'd think of that before I played but I'm enjoying it.

I did my first group flashpoint and that was way cool. I'd like to look into the mechanics on social points and on who gets to say what the interactive cut scenes, 'cause I thought that was some neat ass shit.

Running was getting a little tiresome. I was close to getting my speeder so I'll reserve judgment until I do.

Companions are nifty. As a sorcerer, I got myself this big tanky guy. When the battles are tough and solo, he helps. When I don't need him, I can send him off to craft.
I tend to like a little more interaction in my crafting than this but it'll be great for those who don't like crafting to painlessly do so.

    Card game needed.

The games are very specific to their genre, you can't tell if you are going to like them or not unless you have played the older games in the series, For example if you didn't like Fallout 3 you most likely aren't going to like Fallout New Vegas. There are two main types of mmos asian grind fests and western.

The only western mmo's I have played that was different from all the others were Dungeons and Dragons Online and Guildwars only because the quests were instanced off, if it were open world it would have been the same as all the others. As for asian grind fests, they are all exactly the same. One company will release a new one every year and just change up the map. From what I have seen of The Old Republic, it will be just like any other western mmo. If you have played wow, lotro, war, or rift, then the only thing in this game that will be different is the setting. If this is your first mmo, then I'm sure you will need a while to get a grasp on it, but I doubt an mmo vetern will.

If you didn't finish it, you can't say it sucks. That's all I'm saying.
