    Hello everyone,

This is my first post:confused:, please pardon me for the use of inexact terminologies on this complex topic.

I have been searching on Kundalini for sometime and could not find an authentic text that describes this dormant power, can someone recommend me a better book or a place that I can approach for higher knowledge.

Most of the books describe this as a matter transformation through our center energy channel, but I heard that Kundalini has nothing to do with physical panorama and its all about a thought process that occurs above the level of our Mind.

What is your thoughts on this? please advice.

Thanks and loving regards to all at this beautiful site.

Kundalini is a Sanskrit word that means coil. Every human has Kundalini, however, in most humans the Kundalini lies dormant in the perineum, forming a 3½ circles coil. Although most people are not aware that the Kundalini exists, Kundalini is well-known by serious spiritual seekers. Most yoga traditions aim to awaken the Kundalini, because these yoga traditions believe that the Kundalini is the power that is required to attain the ultimate goal of spiritual achievement, the union with divine (Yoga).

Some of what is said above is true, some isn't.

Not 'most yoga traditions' seek to utilize kundalini. 'Some' Indic yogic systems do use kundalini, the true ones are mostly known as 'Shakta' or Devi or Goddess centric. Another familiar path which somehow became alligned with modern kundalini experiencers is Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, which is a book written by one Maharishi Patanjali who existed more than 2,000 years ago before the golden twilight age of the tantras in 700 AD.

Most kundalini literature was described during that latter age. I cannot find a date for the kundalini upanishad, but it is one of the first known texts on kundalini.

As described kundalini means coiled force. It is seen as a snake curled three and a half times and one doesn't see it do more than lift its head. At that point it moves energy in ones subtle nervous system called either nadis or shrotas.

Kundalini is also often called soma in the Vedic and pretantric works. Soma is not that amanita mushroom, nor the variety of extinct ephedra. Soma is the psysical equivalent of spiritual force which the body makes to refine the senses.

Tummo is not kundalini yoga. Only people who have not done both systems of Hindu and Buddhist yogas like to make facile comparisons.

There is no sense yearning for kundalini awakening. It is not an end towards anything. Best is to experience kundalini in a nice smooth controlled effortless way without needing to change ones lifestyle or concentrate. This can only be done through having an auspicious connection to the Mother Goddess Shakti Ma.

You will best find a connection upon Kundaini in the Sri Vidya cult. Before you go jump in with both feet use your rational mind to decide if the lifestyle is sufficient for you. Make sure you have your own escape plan. India and Nepal are not Christian and we from the West are all somehow Christianized. So for instance when you learn in Nepal that it's okay for a husband or wife to have a second lover so long as they keep it quiet, then you won't have you top popped and think your Nepalese lover is cheating on you.

learn the differences in culture. Know what it means to be a western cash cow for the third world. Even amongst Buddhist monestaries the Westerners are not given any means of support. You must bring your own moo to the field. Because what we can beg here is more than they can get working for there.

I am not discourageing you. In what I wrote you should find some pointers. I saw kundalini and have lived with it for thirty plus years. I grew up as a punk rocker in Hollywood. Ma Shakti moved through time and space and reached me, she will you too. Just be wise.
