NZ sounds great cant wait to go!! The whole relaxed attitude to no shoes just sounds so awesome. Im thinking of going there next summer (like next december) for a month or so for a walkabout - will be leaving my shoes in the suitcase! who wants to come?! A friend at work has just left for NZ for 6 weeks to do the same, am so jealous!
Yep, I have never had any issues with being barefoot here. i am in the South Island which is colder than Auckland, so in the winter we do get snow. In those cases I will wear jandals (flip-flops to you). The only trouble I have occasionally is if I am walking far on my crutches on a warm day I will take my shirt off as well, and on rare occassions this might raise a few eyebrows but hey, if you have been on crutches long-term, you would understnad that even with plenty of practice they are hot work. But bare feet are absolutey accepted here.
So i was in the pub on friday night with work friends and got talking, turns out i have found yet another nz traveller! told me she was goin at the beggining of jan for a month and is going to meet up with the other guy who is out there already. So want to go with her!! Look forward to hearing all about their adventures, and whether or not they see any barefoot locals (im guessing that they will!!) and if they get to try going bf themselves!
Shouldn't be too hard. Seen at least a dozen people in bare feet today. As I write this I am bae foot bare chested waiting for a takeaway.
10 others, just going to get a takeaway? good stuff wish i could say the same! saw no one barefoot today - never see anyone in the winter. myself included Oh the peer pressures of London!!
