Best reply on this thread!!! To all those that leave it on: Do you leave your Stove or oven or vacumn on when not using them? If no,WHY NOT?? Why do you think your computer OWES you something and you can take advantage of it by leaving it running non stop?? Shut it off and let it rest when not in use!! -- Dont take advantage ... If you really love your computer,TREAT IT RIGHT
i leave both my computers running their slide show screen savers, in which i have some 33,8xx images. better then anything on television. don't have an oven where i live. nor even a more then one burner real stove. which i turn off when i don't have something cooking on it. likewise the espresso machine. the refrigerator stays plugged in and turned on of course. and the printer sits humming to itself in the corner. i am also of the understanding, that while turning electronic devices on and off may save some power consumption, it shortens their lifespan more then leaving them run continuously (provided they are kept within their optimal thermal range, which is below 75f, and above the point where condensation would form)
If ill be gone for 10 minutes i put it to sleep, other than that i always turn it off. My desktop has a lot of fans and produces heat like crazy when running hard so i give it naps times often. Plus one internet provider i had charged us hw long our internet was running. The house learned fast that if kept our computers running 24/7 our bill and the end of the month was going to be sky high!
both.. usually turn it off at night, but sometimes i forget to. OP do you want the thread closed since it is a necropost?
I leave it on...usually running scripts for games 24/7 if not then i hibernate it..its rarely turned off completely I keep 2 computers running pretty well 24/7
I leave it on all the livelong day I only turn it off when I go on vacation or if i'm away for a couple of days. hotwater
I usually leave it on when I am home but I do turn it off when I am going to bed or if I have company.
I have a couple that run most of the day, one that's on all the time here recently (as a heater ) and several others that are only on when I'm working on some music. Yes I have quite a few systems.
I turn mine off when I'm not using it. it's a laptop and it boots up pretty quickly, so there isn't really a point in leaving it running. I'll usually only leave it on if I'm downloading something that's taking a while.
Come on why turn it off Doesn't it look great just sitting there on the desk in the bedroom on in the home office as long as you have cool wallpaper from a website like digital blasphemy or maybe a great picture you took while vacationing at an exotic location :2thumbsup: Hotwater
