I just wanted to post a thread about maintaining your physical well-being and health despite being prescribed amphetamines (or taking them illicitly every day). I have been on Ritalin (not an amphetamine, but still a dopamine potentiator), Adderall, or Vyvanse for 4-5 years and a couple of months ago, I realized that I was not very healthy. My eating habits were screwed up. I wasn't skinny since I also take Zyprexa, one of the strongest appetite inducers known to man (it is really an anti-psychotic drug), but I was skinnier than I had been by far. I also looked ragged out all of the time and had severe dark-circles under my eyes. I also got headaches a lot upon waking up, was always thirsty, and just felt unhealthy. So I have been doing a few things that have helped. 1. Eating a solid breakfast before dosing- I get up usually at 6:00 am and take my Vyvanse at 6:30 am. So lately, I have been going to the Dunkin Donuts next to my house (before showering) and getting a healthy breakfast sandwich with lots of protein and long-lasting carbs. The reason is that I know I won't be hungry again until at least the late afternoon. But I noticed that if I don't eat AT ALL, I get irritable and get headaches. 2. A serving of Gatorade with breakfast- I also try to have a glass of Gatorade (usually I just buy one at Dunkin Donuts) or Powerade before I dose. This is because amphetamines deplete electrolytes and I can FEEL the depletion (if that is possible haha) by how ragged out/ strung out I feel. Since drinking the stuff, I feel less strung out. 3. Magnesium Glycinate- my proven 'tolerance buster' ALSO functions to 'smooth' out an amphetamine high. No euphoria is lost. In fact, it is gained due to not getting SO strung out that you are irritable. You don't have as much jitters nor as much of a come-down. The Mg + Gatorade really help with morning headaches. 4. (Not recommended but I do it)- Lisinopril 10 mg- I realize that I basically HAVE to be on one of these stimulant drugs (you all know my mental health 'saga' by now...), but they raise my blood pressure. So I went to my G.P. and he put me on the lowest dose of the safest BP med out there (an ACE inhibitor with no side effects). Not only are my numbers almost to normal, but I feel great- more energy- less exhaustion- and a smoother stimulant ride. So those are my tips (except Number 4 which I wanted to share for completion's sake). What are your tips?
I was persrcibed Ritalin for a little over 2 years and was mildly addicted to them I wouldnt oraly take them though i would crush them up and snort em, I always became focused when i would take them oraly but when i crushed them up it would give me a bit of a jolt or a boost of energy. I soon began takin them to school and crushin them up on hallpasses and doin one ever hour and after I had meny comments from freinds and family that I was lookin skinnyer and had a differnt additude towards life. I have recently gotten off probation and have hooked back up with my good freind mary jane and no longer get Ritalin but when I was takin it I would often have to force my self to eat cause I never realy felt like eattin on it and I was rarly not on it.
