SWIM is a 19 year old male with a coccyx fracture and scoliosis with a curve of at least 25 degrees. SWIM has never complained about pain to their doctor yet. SWIM has been using marijuana for four years, in the last two years its progressed from every other day to around three times a day. SWIM also takes various psychedelics and opiates occasionally. SWIM has a love for opana ER especially, but SWIM does not do it enough to have a tolerance for it yet.

My question is do any of you believe SWIM could be prescribed any painkiller, possibly opana, if SWIM claimed to have extreme pain from SWIM's back problems, and if so, how would SWIM go about doing so?

The doctor would likely prescribe NSAIDs. If further complaints were made a referral to a pain specialist would probably be made. An MRI would be used to verify complaints and then a series of Steroidal Spinal Injections would probably be tried.

I see, so what would the MRI be checking? I've already had X-rays for the coccyx fracture and scoliosis. But basically you're saying there is no way I can get any opiates, and defiantly not opana?

What I've seen is them try everything else before the will put someone on opiates. That's just how they do it. You might get put on pain meds for a week or so -short term- anything after that is when they start the referrals to pain specialists. Those are the ones that want the scans and want to do the injections for back pain.

Also, the standard treatment for coccyx fracture pain that persists is steroidal injections. Idiopathic Scoliosis, which I assume you have given your age and that the curvature is not greater than 30 degrees, is known to typically not cause pain.

Why the hell would you be 19, and looking to start a un-quittable (or if you can quit, it will always haunt you) life-long habit and heavy dependence?

I think that's a much better question than "how do I get opana when I should be on pot".
