this. You don't have to sit still in one spot with no external stimuli in order to meditate. I dig the shit out of nature. Its really the only thing that calms me down, so when I get stressed out or start thinking too much I go outside. I go for a walk. I stop and stare at trees, notice patterns. I pick flowers, focus on weird plants I've never noticed before. That might not work for you, but the point is finding something that does work. Find something that you enjoy so much that when you focus on it, nothing else matters. That is meditation. Humans are some intelligient fuckers, but we think so much we forget about our 5 senses. Your senses are what keep you living in the moment. Whenever you're breathing in something, you aren't thinking about anything else but the smell. If you're making something with your hands, nothing matters but that touch. When you're listening to music, you're only waiting for the next beat. etc, etc. Engage your senses.
yep exactly you just gotta flow with ease. and just remember the intensity of exercise releases natural chemicals that make it easier to relax. go for a run and think of nothing but that run.
Bringing awareness to the senses. That is part of mindfulness. There is an old story that goes something like this: A zen master and student were walking along the road. The student asks the master "how does one enter zen?" The master is quiet for a moment and replies "Do you hear the running water of the stream off in the distance?" The student found it remarkable that she had not realized the sound before. After a while, the student noticed the stream was becoming less noticeable through the turnings of her mind. The student asks "What if I could not hear the stream?" "Enter zen from there." said the master. By the same token, some do not use the term "entering" zen because it is already here.

Know your own mind and then you can calm it. It is literally impossible to stop the mind from thinking as the brain will continue to emit waves. Instead harness to mind to clear thought on a conscious level and replace it with something that is calming to focus on. That is even what mediation starts with the concentration of breath. Once you clear and only focus on breathing then the mind can rest but it does not stop thinking, it only redirects to place that allows down time as one thing is the focus instead of the tons of things in real time.
You're 16. Life gets way more complicated. Enjoy the next 10 years bra. Wait 'till you're older to do drugs. OCD/Neurotic brains are tough... find an outlet.
