Bloody automated phone messages

I HATE 'em.

I don't normally believe in banning things, but I would ban these.

My phone is for the use of close friends and family only. That's why the number is ex directory. It's not meant to be rung by anyone else.

So when it rings, I drop everything to go and answer it ... only to get a fucking recorded voice saying "Hello ... this is a message about your payment protection insurance ..." trying to sell me their service to try to claim compensation for mis-sold PPI.

Well, you know what? I've got a brain ... I read the PPI policy documents when offered them ... saw right through them I did ... realised they were a racket and a scam, and NEVER TOOK ONE OUT.

So I can't claim any compensation for having been mis-sold them, because I was too wide awake to let them sell me one in the first place.

SO STOP DISTURBING MY PEACE AND TRANQUILITY WITH THESE BLOODY PRE-RECORDED PHONE CALLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just call them back and harass them for a while.. its fun..

 

i have absolutely no problem with them. simple. i don't have a phone. of any kind. if someone really needs and wants to get ahold of me, i've got e-mail.

there's still e-mail spam. i don't get a lot of that these days though. happily.
may have something to do with avoiding entertainment sites, other then youtube and vemio, and not buying stuff on line.

 

If its important they will ring back.so no they don't bother me at all.let them ring back.

I hate phones. I only answer when I know the call is coming in or I am in the mood to.


Any other time you are going to get my answering machine or voice mail and if I wish to return your call I shall.

 

I kept getting a call from one specific automated number. I entered the phone number as a contact and named it "DO NOT ANSWER". So when it rings, i see the do not answer and just ignore it. Its annoying and I do not have time for it.

See, I'm the opposite.. I hate when people don't answer the phone. But only cell phones. Like if you don't answer your house phone thats fine call me back, but if I call your cell phone.. and keep calling your cell phone.. and you either don't answer it or it's off I get so irritated. I mean I understand people have prepaid phones, as does my boyfriend, and I only call it when it's really important and it irritates me to no end when people don't answer their cell phones

 

Ah ... but I have a mobile so that I can make emergency calls ... not so that other people can interrupt my "me time" on a whim ...

It's one thing to be in touch ... it's something altogether different to be ensnared.

 

My phone has wires, I hate cell phones and will never own one. The only times my house phone rings it's either my family, which is rare, or some stupid automated survey call which gets hung up on immediately, rare occasion it's a Doctors office reminder of an appointment..... All sales calls are blocked and I don't have any friends......

Problem is I pay almost $50 a month for phone service (not including internet access, that costs more) and my phone rings maybe once or twice a week, out of a month maybe 2 useful calls....... so it's $25 bucks a call basically. [/rant]

 

yet a prepaid cell doesn't appeal to you at all?

 

Never a cell phone..... My phone will always have wires. If they get rid of that service I won't have a phone.

 

what's the significance of the wires?
