Hetero Female Only: Is Anal Sex a part of a "typical" sex life.

This may seem like a repost, but it's not. I didn't find what I was really after elsewhere.

My wife and I practice anal sex occasionally/regularly (about 25% of our sex life, or about every 8-10 days). We both enjoy it to some extent (me more than her). She feels like it's way out of the ordinary. I suspect differently, but am not sure.

Since girls talk about everything, she's asked her friends. The problem is, her sample size is about 5 people. She is (and I am) wondering how typical anal sex is in heterosexual relationships.

I wanted objective info, and couldn't think of any place else to find out.

Help me out with your honest input.

 

I'm very anal inclined in that I don't do vaginal sex at all (due to a preference for anal and finding vag uncomfortable) but I wouldn't claim to be representative. So... not much activity on this thread, but as I type, the numbers are .... 7 of 10 respondants (excluding the guy) responded "regular part of their sex life, and that the like that fact".

That seems like a really high percentage, and a low sample size. So I did some research. Thought I'd share.

2005 Study from The Centers For Disease Control (CDC) seems to be the most respected. It puts prevalence at 32.6% of hetero women. Source: CDC.

of final note, most of these studies suspect that prevalence is *UNDER-reported* given the nature of the subject matter.

However, 8 of 10 still seems really high with so many guys complaining about not getting any. I suspect people inclined to answer questions about this sort of thing are just more inclined to be the ones who do it. The ones who don't, just don't bother to respond. My guess....1 in 3? with it being much more likely in committed relationships?
