:xmastree:Yes, there really are angels among us. :)

That someone would show this kindness to another and to do so without expecting the recognition for it warms the heart.

There is a lot of good in people. :)

"They asked for a layaway that was full of toys for Christmas"

Nice if they're doing it for the kids.....

In each of the stories I read, they did request that the layaway involved children's toys or goods.

I think it is a lovely way for someone to make a difference and make some child's wish come true and some parent be able to enjoy the season as well. :)

i.e. someone with a guilty conscience who is trying to atone for some grave sin or great evil they did in the past :(

I suppose that could be a possibility. If that were the case then kudos to them for at least trying to atone in some way. :)

It’s my belief this so-called angel is not sincere and is simply trying to make him or herself feel better under the guise of an act of kindness, when in reality its self-serving and the recipient collateral damage [IMG]

last month a friend of mine was attacked in the street and had his musical instrument (a bodhan drum) broken. Myself and a friend fundraised over £150 from the local open mic community to buy him a new (and better) drum and we presented it to him last week

i myself put in £40 of the money

not because i was atoning any sins or because i am in fact a bastard trying to make up for my wrong doings, but because our friend needed help.

I find this instant insinuation that anyone doing any good in the world is doing so because of some ill-means abhorrant.

I wasn’t trying to insinuate only speculate on other possible motives for their benevolence [IMG]

    why?

why not just give someone the benefit of the doubt and think that someone for some reason has done something nice for a person in need?

There is just no need to be so down right negative about something that COULD be just about love... Seems thats not enough for some people and they have to twist it into hate... and i dont know why at all.

I think you just need a Christmas hug? :snowkiss:

I do not plan on getting this cynical until I am at least 103. Then I should only have a couple of years to go and it will help those who love me get over my passing because I was being a miserable cuss. ;)

    Merry Christmas, Hotwater! :santa1:

Because rarely is anything what it appears to be and we’re often left with nothing more than speculation and conjecture.

BTW: You’re never really an adult until you’ve become a cynic [IMG]

Good for you, helping your friend. :)

We live in such cynical times that many have a difficult time accepting that sometimes someone just is doing something for the right reason because they can. :)

    Merry Christmas!!

There is a big difference between being a cynic and pissing on someones fire.

imagine if the person who had done this good deed (lets just imagine for a second, that it was JUST a good deed and not some bizarre chain of events which actually makes the person doing the good deed a ****) had come across someone like you, who basically told them that regardless of their good deed, you still considered them a money-grabbing, self-appreciative ****. do you think that person would continue to do a good deed, or just not bother anymore?

Now imagine they met someone like me, who knows that even if in the slight chance they are a ****, at LEAST they are a **** who is doing something nice for someone, even if its the only thing they have ever done thats nice... And i told them they were a good person for doing that, and made them feel good about themselves.

How much more likely is it to make them want to do that again?

that's pretty surprising that $2700 was anywhere near enough to pay off all the layaways. i would have guessed ten times that.

now watch that $2700 check bounce...

jesus christ, he made a fucking joke. one post, that was obviously not serious. then you make 72 posts in a row attacking the fuck out of him and act like you're not the one that ruined the thread. talk about pissing on somebody's fire, might as well close the thread now because you completely destroyed any good feelings that might have come from it.

amusing yourself, by pissing on somebodies fire, in this case a poster who was just trying to make a fun post for us to enjoy... Wow didnt they deserve all this hate and twisted bollocks... you must feel bloody marvellous about yourself.
