Hello Everyone... As we all are very well familiar with cell phone recycling. Cell phone recycling not only profits you but also provides many benefits to mother earth. Well..Another face of cell phone recycling is to donate it for good cause of charity. So, I think the important thing about recycling is not to recycle maximum waste but its the good process to save our planet, to be part of good cause and to profit ourselves too. What do you people think about this??
I've worked in the wireless industry for a few years now, and I know the harm that cell phones cause to the environment when they are thrown away. A lot of towns offer recycling programs a few times a year for broken phones, so I suggest people look those things up. However, the working cell phones can be brought to almost any shelter, and if you look online, there are recycling programs for soldiers overseas and the less fortunate throughout the world. My old cell phone went to a man in Africa who is a fisherman and needed a way to contact his family back home but couldn't afford a cell phone. I was very glad I was able to help him out.
Its a good program.. the only flaw is its very very corrupt.. we take a majority of these "recycled" cell phones and just drop them in dumps in 3rd world countries.. where gangs then turn the "mining" of the precious metals found in the phone into a money ring.. enslaving workers to mine this stuff for them.. and others with no other choice to do so because there is no other work thats profitable.. complete wasteland.. disgusting http://www.pbs.org/frontlineworld/stories/ghana804/video/video_index.html
Hand them over to the 'Guide Dogs for the Blind' for those in the UK. http://www.guidedogs.org.uk/supportus/fundraising/recycle/recyclemobiles/
I've always wondered what these 'cash for old mobiles' companies do with the phones and how they make their money...
They hand them over to a company that recycles them, they get a donation back from that company. It's just better that leaving them in a bottom draw or chucking them in the bin.
Nice to know you can help people out directly by "recycling" your cell phone instead of throwing it out, potentially contaminating the ground and water around the landfill where it ends up. Same for batteries. They need to be properly disposed of to avoid them ending up in the wrong place. This could be a significant environmental issue as people seem to be going through cell phones at an insane rate these days.
With the growing use of cell phones, the harm on human health and environment is also increasing. Cell phones are hazardous wastes because they contain lead, mercury, cadmium and arsenic. If it is just thrown in the trash and sent to landfills, environmental contamination can occur from combustion and leaching into soil and groundwater. Hence the recycling of cell phones has become a very good way to protect environment. Since we can't avoid the use of cell phones, we should take part in the recycling process at least.
