Howdy folks! I’m not entirely a newbie here; I registered about a year ago but then sort of drifted off. But I’m back! I’m fascinated by the 60’s/70’s, especially the alternative and hipster aspects of the time. I’m so fascinated that I wrote a book, using my own life in 1970’s Atlanta as the starting point. It just came out on Amazon a couple of weeks ago.
Atlanta, i like Atlanta. my experence with Atlanta was entirely a Adventure. went there in 1970 to experence Southern rock (Allman brother's,Little Feet, etc.) i did get a real feeling for that. the Southern states have real welcoming atitude,as a Yankeee, from Vermont, and upstate Ny i had to "peel" i few layers off that blasted remiment of the civil war, but it is a truely nice place, ever been to Alabama? now that was a real nice suprise.i expected to be tarred and feathered(a tradidtion orginated in South Carolina) but it turned out very different, i met some of the most decent people in that place. sigh, wish i could go back, but with the present economy, any such "Adventure" is not feasable.
I was a transplanted Yankee myself (New York). Atlanta was pretty cool in the 70's. Have no idea how it is now (I live in Norway).
