Hello! I am looking to travel full time soon in a motorhome. I have finally landed a full time job where I can work from my laptop. I wanted to get some advice on whether or not I should take out a personal loan to purchase my motorhome. I want something reliable and in good shape. I figure to spend somewhere between $10,000 and $15,000. I would prefer to save up the cash first and pay for it outright so I wouldn't have any monthly payment... but I figured with the money I can save from boondocking or workamping would make it manageable. I figure if I can manage to stay in spots where I wouldn't have to pay to stay there, then it would be just like having my loan payment each month act as my rent or mortgage. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with a similar situation. Also, I would like to see if anyone knows the best resource to find people who want to meet others and are willing to let me park my motorhome in front of their home. couchsurfing.org? :daisy:
Theres a similar workamping site I came across before, I was going to post a link but when I googled I got so many results,,, https://www.google.com/search?q=wor...-us&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&startIndex=&startPage=1 Take your pick. If you aren't mechanically inclined at all, I think buying something with a warranty is a great idea. If you are, maybe find something decent in the 3 to 5 k range (Depends on how big you want to live really) Personally I could be content in a camper back on a truck, but it is hard to beat a 35' pull trailer aside from the increased fuel costs.
As far as finding non-workaming spots to chill out now and then, maybe try posting ad's in craigslist a few weeks prior to arrival in an a-ppropriate section?
