Tuesday the 2nd of November at the University of Nanterre (Paris, France) 50 hooded students attacked a wall with two home-made battering rams and two sledgehammers. Twenty security guards of the University tried to intervene. Five of them got injured. The whole crew got away as smokebombs filled the hall. Outside of the building huge fireworks exploded in the sky, celebrating their escape. A student supposedly reckognized during the assault is now in jail waiting for his trial.

For more than a year now, it seems like numerous french universities have been victims of assaults by anonymous groups. Cameras get smashed by hooded gangs, graffiti filled the walls, walls get destroyed, stupid leftist debates get sabotaged, doors lock get glued, Lecture Halls got ravaged and eventually, a dean got his nose broken during a demonstration.

Nanterre University, cradle of may 68 upheavals, has a long tradition of uncontrollable students. In response to the ongoing threat to imperial peace in the last years, pacification and control devices have been set up. Cameras everywhere, armed security guards, pressure on political people etc. Until last year the administration decided to split, by building walls, the huge hall where students used to hang out. Now they could only circulate. Quickly one of the wall became the target for students’ anger. In april as hundreds of them gathered around the wall to protest the security/control policy, a black masked crew armed with battering rams managed to totally destoy it.

The wall was then rebuilt.

This year, various graffiti pieces announced that the students were still angry. “Pacification of behaviors = massification of fears”, “citizen = cop” and even “Yes to the assassination of Audeoud" (Audeoud being the name of the president of the University) could be read on the walls. For one month an illegal weekly banquet was held in front of the wall. Last tuesday, a hooded gang managed to destroy the wall once again. This time the security guards lost their temper and tried to intervene. At one point they started to insult and impress the students who were making a line around the deconstruction team, one of them eventually said to a protesting woman “I’m gonna rape you til you bleed, bitch”. They persisted and eventually started to hit masked people. Push came to shove, chairs started to fly on them, and a brawl broke out, leaving five of them hurt in the midst of smokebombs as the students fought their way out, leaving no prisoners. As everyone ran outside, distributing the last blows to still daring guards, fireworks exploded in the sky.

Unless I'm ignorant of some French law requiring students to attend university, if you don't like the rules of your school then TRANSFER! And you know what's even more dumb? These kids (I won't call them students since they're obviously not studying anything) are destroying things they inevidably pay for anyway! (Assuming you pay to go to university in France, your tuition money will go up to pay for the damages you caused. Even if France is one of those countries where the government pays for your schooling, you will STILL have to pay for the damages in the form of TAXES).

And what's more, I read the entire posting and I still have NO IDEA what the hell they're pissed off about! Are they mad because the school built a wall? Well guess what, geniuses? THE WALL WOULDN'T BE THERE IF YOU WEREN'T BEING VIOLENT IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!

What was the purpose of this posting, anyway? To prove French students like to throw temper-tantrums they inevitably pay for? What the hell does that prove?

God, some people deserve to stay in high school the rest of their lives.

Yeah. I don't blame them for putting the walls up. Violence to prove a point is stupid in any situation, particularly when you want your cause to have credibility with the public.

Seeing as to how I'm not in love at the moment, I doubt it'll be of any help. But thanks for the suggestion.
