I find almost every jefferson airplane song is a happier one, ALTHOUGH I find the song, "If you feel" very sad, The far off gutair and the Distance of the song gives it this feel, What do you think?

Like they are sad song in the way of content but, somehow they are uplifting, Lather is a truly sad song.

My friend played Lather for me on my 40th birthday, I sat in on the nose organ. We jammed, it was cool.

J.A. are one of my favorite bands ever. However I don’t think the word ‘happy’ comes to mind when I think of their music. My words: trippy, political, cerebral, thought-provoking and sometimes downright dark (The Last Castle, The House At Pooneil Corners). Although not really a song, what about Chushingura?

Also, I Jack Cassidy is my fav rock bassist ever. The man plays like a god.

One of the greatest rock bands of all time. Unpretentious, they just do what they do. A very wide range of styles, layered psychedelic, to folk, to pop. Fantastic vocals with and without Grace. Two of the greatest guitarists in Jorma's lead and Kantner's rhythm. Then there's Casady's bass. Imaginative and heartfelt lyrics, such as Baby Tree, Pretty as You Feel, Milk Train, etc. etc.

Then there are all the associations with Ken Kesey, David Friberg, Crosby, Stills, Nash, Poppa John, Quicksilver, Garcia, Hot Tuna, Bill Graham, Woodstock, Montery, Altamont, The Isle of Wight, on and on...

I've seen them three times, once with Grace, and will be buying tickets this Monday for March.

"Rose Goes To Yale" is a happy song about life after atomic fire, so maybe that's a bad choice, I dunno. LOL I like almost all of the Airplane/Jefferson Starship songs that I've heard and a few of the ones after they became simply Starship. But please, no "We Built This City" or "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now". The 1989 JA reunion album is pretty good too. I wish Grace still sang with them, but I respect her decision not to do so. You can't beat the pre-1970 stuff though.
