i haven't had a single trip in which i didn't close my eyes and listen to third eye while i drift off into space.
I've done it many times, and I don't think it was a good idea looking back. It sounds like you want to hear from people who like driving on acid and encourage it, but I'll reply anyway. I remember driving on the highway leaving a show and almost coming to a complete stop because I saw a woman in a white flowing gown crossing the road. Probably just some light reflecting off the road or something. I slowed way down before realizing that it was nothing, and then asked my friend in the passenger seat how bad that was. I remember him saying, "Yes, that was bad!" There were no screeching tires or horns, but I'm sure I confused the other drivers and could have caused an accident. I'm grateful that I have some stories about this that I can remember now. However, there was probably a pretty high probability that it could have gone the other way, and I'd be look back at it bitterly from a wheel chair, or those I left behind would look back with anger. Worst would be if I hurt or killed an innocent bystander or friend. I think the practical issues are, like mentioned above, that you could get stuck in traffic. Also, acid often comes on in 30min or even less, and the coming up is probably the worse time to drive, so your timing is a little off. And, if you get pulled over, the cops will know immediately that something's wrong when they see your pupils. It's not unusual to see a sobriety check near concerts or to be pulled over. Do this if you can't get a ride: drive up to arrive 4 hours before the concert and drop after parking. Wait a few hours after the concert before starting the car. (Avoid florescent filled fast food places at all costs ) If you can't do that, wait until another time. Just enjoy the concert without acid. Part of being a responsible user is to have the patience to wait until the situation is right. Especially when the timing might increase the risk of death, injury, or arrest. One last thing: an accident can be horrific and really affect you for a long time...I can't imagine having an accident while on acid, it would just be too traumatic.
haha yea i was kind of looking for people to support it but mainly firsthand experiences. i think i'll take your advice and either get their early or not do it because i figured all i had to worry about was the drive home i thought coming up would be the easiest time to drive
I personally can't drive on acid, I'm always too afraid to try, but I have two friends who can do it.. so it is possible. But I wouldn't willingly put it in a plan to drive on acid.. Who know where you or swiy will be in their trip by the time they have to drive an hour home? Also, after months in between a trip, the effect will be very strong.. so it isn't advisable. I do not want to promote this at all because it is unsafe for the driver and anyone else on the road.. but yes it is possible
You are not the only person alive man. It's not just about what's good for you. Is you being high as fuck on acid on the roads good for other drivers? You seem to want moral support from this thread, which sadly it seems to be weakly giving you, much to my dismay. If any one of you regulars has any appreciation for LSD, please, please, please, don't do this, and don't even passively encourage this. Take a giant fucking shit on any dickhead who thinks about it. This is the fastest way to making it harder for consciousness to interact with psychedelic. Given the fact that you can't know for sure when strong effects will hit you, and you can't know for sure whether you'll be delayed on the road for a MILLION different reasons (what if it starts to pour???), and given the fact you won't know whether they are doing RIDE checks, and given the fact that driving while under the effects of any drug is fucking stupid, I think you deserve to be arrested, have your license permanently revoked, spend time in jail, spend time in community service, have fines for years, and miss Tool, if you choose to be a selfish little punk. But that's just my opinion. There's so many other ways to get downtown on acid that don't involve you operating a 3 ton machine going at 50mph. I can't express my disgust and hate at this discussion enough. How will you feel if you kill some poor guy going home from work? A mother of 2? A young couple coming back from the concert? Use that head of yours that you're taking chemicals to expand
I'm not going to encourage this, and actually the scariest time I ever had behind the wheel was on acid. It had rained, which was no big deal. Getting home from my friends was not a problem, been there done that several times. But the reflection of all those lit up signs along Rt30 in the wet road in front of me became just way to distracting for the situation at hand. As far as the distance question, there were some nights we would drive around most of the night. Stopping for a few hours here or there. We were very very lucky... Others were not so lucky. Really, man. Find a designated driver if at all possible.
After a Dead concert in Hartford in the mid 1980s, I was still tripping pretty good when I drove from the Civic Center to the airport, where a friend had a hotel room. This was a really bad idea. I didn't crash but I really had no idea what I was doing. I was a danger to myself and others, no question. I am just lucky. I will never do it again and I hope you never try it, either.
that's not enough to convince you NOT to drive?!?! it's definitely not harder to drive on weed than on LSD. LSD gives you fucking VISUALS! can you not see how that is bad when you're driving? everyone who has ever taken LSD has had an experience with being impaired to the point that driving would be dangerous. it doesn't matter if they were stupid enough to ACTUALLY drive! i've driven on LSD when i was younger and dumber - for no real good reason. i've driven on LSD once in my adult years, and it was in an emergency. i didn't crash, but it was not easy to drive. this was "only" an hour, maybe less, after dosing. i was getting distracted looking at the sky while at stop lights. i was screaming in order to concentrate on the highway. i was terrified. lights at nighttime will be insanely more bright than usual - EVEN on the comedown. just don't do it. <---period.
mr.writer i'm asking for experiences to find out if this is a good idea or not. i was planning on saying fuck it and driving but i decided to look it up where many people said driving on acid is easier than weed and their were many other comments explaining how easy it is. even after that i decided to make an account on this and make a forum on whether or not i should drive on acid based on experience. you trying to scare me or try and make me feel selfish is disgusting and almost makes me want to drive on acid anyways although i have found a designated driver. i was hoping the majority would say it's not too bad driving on acid clearly they didn't so i decided not to. i hope in the future when someone has a question on here instead of being an asshole you answer his question honestly with experience rather than fear.
as to everyone else your comments have been helpful and informative and i plan on having a friend drive thanks
I guess I'm a bit late to this thread, but I have done it several times, and I survived, but it think it's really obvious that it's a bad idea. The decision isn't one you should ask others for advice on, it should be based on whether or not you feel confident to drive at the time. I can tell you one thing for sure though, from experience, do not take acid and then drive somewhere expecting it to take longer to kick in than your drive should. I did this on my last acid trip, and I got very lucky that I had a short drive, because the acid came on within 15 minutes in an extreme way. I only had about a 15 minute drive, but by the time I got to my parking space I thought I was driving up a curb when I was on flat ground. If I had encountered any kind of delay along the way I would've been in serious danger. I admit I did a massive dose, but the point still stands, driving impaired is a bad idea. That's not going to stop people, so the best advice I can give is to use your best judgement in the situation, once you've gotten used to the intensity of the trip. Its the same as with any drug, if you do a small dose then you could likely drive with no problem, but it can always cause problems. Just be careful. It's kind of ridiculous to ask people to back up the idea of driving while under the influence of extremely powerful psychedelics. Of course it's possible, just like driving while very drunk, but of course it's not a good idea. That's just common sense.
well the reason i asked is because i've driven on acid before i'm used to taking acid (although i haven't in a while) and i didn't want people to say hey go drive on acid right now regardless of how many times you've tripped. i wanted people to tell me about their experiences driving on acid and base that on my decision on whether not i would do it. if everyone said don't do it it's stupid and said nothing else i'd do it but since they explained their stories and experiences i decided to get a designated driver.
IQ = 20? IQ = 21? IQ = 19? I answered honestly, with experience, with fear. I am very afraid of you getting on the road and driving, especially to the same Tool concert that I am going to. I don't want you on the road. I am afraid of fucktards like you, you guys ruin drugs so hard, it's terrible. I know your type, don't know dick about a substance but you'll take 2 of them and go driving, wooooo. You're still young and stupid enough to be a thrill-seeker to the point of endangering others on the road, for me that is a line I very much dislike being crossed. You feign as though you're actually being reasonable and well thought out but really you sound like a 17 year old douche and may I be the first one in this thread to tell you to go fuck yourself long and hard. Now please go skulk off into the shadows and we can all pretend this travesty of a thread never happened. I literally can't remember the last time I actually flamed someone here, even cursing at them, but I'll be glad to use up my (semi)annual online bitch slap on your punk ass. GROW UP, AND GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR ASS.
OP This is sensible info, no scare tactics involved and there is a point of emphasis on the various situations that can occur when driving which is to say just because you were capable of driving on acid in the past doesn't make it ok or safe now. I'm glad you found a designated driver, it's good to be able to have the focus on that concert rather than having the focus be about driving and all that before making it to the show.
you say i'm dumb and yet you really think calling someone an idiot and cussing them out is going to get them to agree with you? and you don't know my type at all i've taken a lot of acid and i know a lot more about it than you think. you are being an asshole when i ask a question and you flame even after i decided to listen to peacegrow and either not do it or get their early and wait til it wears off. and i'm sure other people have wondered whether they should chance driving on acid and a firsthand experience on why they shouldn't is much better than "you're stupid i hope you get arrested." even after i've said i'm getting a designated driver you can't resist the urge to flame some more. now, kindly go fuck off. thanks.
Who the hell said weed was easier than acid behind the wheel? You'd have to smoke a LOT of bowls to even come close to being as out of it to compare to someone on acid.. Dude just get a DD have him/her drive you around and be your "protection" and they can smoke or something while with you guys so they're not left out, still have a good time, and everyone's safe. problem solved
it was in one of the forums i found idk which one that's why i wanted to start my own and i did get a DD so no worries
