Are there any festivals or shows that involve hippies, trance, jamband, and such in Canada soon? Or in summer?
Specifically I am looking for something in Alberta, or BC, but I would travel.
EDIT: also I was looking for something inexpensive, and something my under 18 friends can get into.
EDIT 2: Washington state or Montana would be alright too I guess.

    Thanks!:sunny::confused:

Shambhala is a very popular place to be, the 5-8th of August 2011 in BC close to Salmo. It has gotten so big over the past 13 years. http://www.shambhalamusicfestival.com/
I had been 3 years in a row, but I am more into the smaller fests now..
There are lots of little festivals, North Country Fair is one that is really awesome, in northern Alberta..
Ness Creek Music Festival, close to where I am in northern Saskatchewan. I will be checking that one out this summer!
You may just hear randomly about gatherings usually too... there are so many good ones that are kept a little out of the mainstream, it makes the whole experience so special.
Keep your heart open and you are sure to find the place that is right for you and your journey!
    Aums, peace!

    Thank you so much!
Google just isn't doing this situation for some reason.
Please let me know if you gain knowledge of a smaller gathering too! Or not if you don't want many people there.

There's a decent few festivals all round BC. Komasket music fest near Vernon, Kaslo jazz fest, and Shambhala, just to name a few.

if you keep your ear to the ground at the festivals you go to, or through the web, you can find rainbow gatherings too (which are free!) I highly reccomend them. Shambhala is awesome, but expensive (bring your own food, trust me) and sneaking in is possible, but then you'll have to make a fake wristband too :p. Great vibe there, but the administrative part is all wrong (the rest is all right) also, BURNING MAN ++++

don't miss out on going to burning man. yes it costs alot of money to bring everything in, out and tickets (you can get low income tickets if you apply early! do it!) but it is the ultimate festival. check this : [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ahv_1IS7SiE

I have a friend who went to Burning Man last year, and had a blast. He told me he'll NEVER miss another one. I'd hit that up, but its the same weekend as another big hippie gathering/rave festival that i decided I'LL never miss haha.
But yeah, theres some cool festivals. There is Shambhala of course.. I've heard good things about the North Country Fair (And i'll likely hit that up this summer).. Sasquatch Music Festival is supposed to pretty nuts (Pricey though)... East Thurlow Island also has a little festival in the summers i hear.

Just got the go on volunteering at the Calgary folk fest, pretty stoked on that one. There is also festival called edge of the world, on the island of Haida Gwaii. Looks like a mystical time and a half, with a smaller more tribal vibe. Raincoast might be familiar with it. Only problem with that one is its the same weekend as shambhala, and quite far. Speaking of shambles, definitely planning on sneaking in, maybe I'll see some of ya'll there :2thumbsup:
