There is no doubt that the popularity of anal sex has been growing in the heterosexual community. Twenty years ago a US national health survey document 16 % of people aged 16 to 24 had tried anal sex. Fast forward to 2010 and that number had grown to 40% according to the National Survey of Sexual Health and Behavior.

Yet the survey also indicated that that figure may have peaked, with an annual growth of only .7%.

Is anal sex a passing phase?

A recent playmate, and lover of porn described his one and only experience of anal sex with a condom as "Rubber burning poo". And yet he still wanted to explore, so we did, but not for long, anal sex never became a regular part of our sexual routine as we found new toys to play with.

My best friend Sarah is an anal virgin but curiosity has been getting the better or her. "I stuck my finger up Bob's bum last night. Then I went to spit on my finger and it just stank!"

Is the reality that anal sex is a taboo, a forbidden passage, but once it's been ticked off for many of us there is only a small temptation to go back?

I'm pretty sure anal sex is here to stay for me, anyway. :2thumbsup:

Edit: I should say, in the interest of full disclosure, that when I was less experienced I was indifferent, or, even had a slight aversion to anal sex. But, nowadays, I couldn't care less what everyone else does, I want it!

Same for me. We've been doing it for over 10 years, and we STILL love it. People tend to be posers and fan boys and do things because everyone else is doing it.

I'm not one of those people and neither is my wife. So yes, I do believe the posers who tried anal because it was trendy will probably stop doing it.

Who gives a fuck? I enjoy it, why should I care what you think of it?

OP is clearly just a trendwhore, or would have little interest in trend status'..... and would have real "examples", instead of what look like excerpts from very poorly written erotica.

Up the bum and no babies! :D
Anal Sex is not new, only now it is a more accepted in the public domain - no doubt it will be something else that will be the thing to do/participate in.
In short, yes it is a trend but only in the media sense - meThinks :)

I was surprised how accurate those stats are, considering that I wrote in a previous post that when I was in high school about one in five did anal, and today about one in two do it. Special thanks to the pornographic superhighway for the gradual increase.

Is anal sex a passing trend? No way in hell. Why? Because as long as the internet will be around, there will be tons of anal porns out there to watch. If the stats suggest that the anal trend has plateaued, I contend that no way in hell will the percentage decrease back to 16%. Such a decrease requires the complete abolition of the internet as we know it, and to restore media to the same of twenty years ago. This would mean that we would have to return to watching porn on VHS tapes. Some would be bold enough to go into the adult section of a video store and not care who is watching them go inside there. The internet, however, is a completely different mode of access: instead of physically entering a discreet room and being nervous and embarrassed about it, all we do now is shamelessly click a mouse and jack off in the privacy of our own homes. It is so easy to do that, versus walking into the adult section of a video store and worrying if somebody you know sees you go in there.

There is no way the anal stat will decrease. I contend that it can only increase some. The main reason why is because the internet is rapidly evolving. 4G is already becoming cliche, and LTE technology will create an internet experience even more lively and vivid. It will be a matter of time before pornographers will use and exploit the new technology to enhance greatly the smut we watch today in the privacy of our homes, and because anal best triggers sexual arousal in men, you can be assured that anal porns will be far better in the future and constantly improving.

Please, how can anyone dare to suggest that anal sex is on the decline?

Anyone who actually enjoys it won't see it as a passing trend.

Trends are just that. Trends. The Kinsey Report (1948->1953) put prevalence at 40%. Later studies have it wane. Newer studies show an increase. Perhaps the change is in people’s willingness to admit it, or perhaps it’s a change in actual behavior. Tides in behavior wax and wane.

But the great thing about “prevalence” is that it doesn't matter that much unless it's the prevalence with your partner. If the national rate drops to .005%, but your partner loves it, it matters not at all.

If you're going to make fun of someone when you tell them they're wrong, you should do your research and quote your sources.

It should look something like this....

    TheGhost, you're wrong.

Who says prevalence is growing? The Centers for Disease Control (CDC), of all places. They’ve been tracking anal sex in heterosexual people for years, in tracking HIV/AIDS.

1992 Study from the CDC. 26% of men and 20% of women had engaged in hetero anal sex.

2005 Study from The CDC puts prevalence at 32.6% of hetero women. (around 40% in H Men.)

A 2010 Study, again, CDC – 36% of women and 40% of men.

You can get these right off www.CDC.Gov, from their National Health Statistics Reports.

    Or…..

2007 report from Journal of Infectious Diseases puts the figure over 30%, and adds..."significantly higher among 20- to 24-year-olds and peaked among 30- to 34-year-olds" Source: wikipedia, sourced back to JoID.

National Survey of Sexual Health and Behavior: "partnered women in the age groups between 18-49 are significantly more likely to report having anal sex in the past 90 days." than those in other groups. Source: original survey.

A study of 1,268 HIV-negative women (2000) shows that 32 percent reported anal intercourse in past six months. - source: Psychology Today.

of final note, most of these studies suspect that prevalence is *UNDER-reported* given the nature of the subject matter.

Or, respected magazines. New York Magazine ("The Bottom Line"), Marie Claire ("Is anal the new oral?") etc.

    Need any more?

We now return you to you're regularly scheduled postings.

^ I only believe the statistics I have falsified personally. That way I have more control over the bullshit they more often than not claim to have found.

To just cite one ridiculous part of your post: National Survey of Sexual Health and Behavior: "partnered women in the age groups between 18-49 are significantly more likely to report having anal sex in the past 90 days." than those in other groups.

What the heck is that supposed to mean? They are more likely to "report"? What if they had anal sex and fail to report? Does that count? How would that affect the statistics? And much more importantly: What about strap-ons?

And, last not least, did they also ask the 3167.8 HIV-positive women? Did those answer or did they "fail to report"?

I really do not need any more .... I'm still rolling on the floor.
