Hello everyone. I have finally decided to start my dread journey, but I have a few questions that I can not find the answers to, and would love you help I have decided that I am going with the neglect method, as I love the idea of taking time and making new a discovery in my hair each morning. Brushing my hair has always been a battle for me, and have not used one in about 8 years, however I was washing my hair with store bought shampoo and conditioner, and running my fingers though my hair. I have now stopped the conditioner, however am still using store bought shampoo until I can find and alternative. I am still a bit unsure about using the bi-carb/Apple cider vinegar wash on my fresh hair, however I am going to give it a go on the next wash and see how it goes. My hair has a decent wave to it and I have found that my hair starts sectioning itself off after about a day after washing. I am at about 4 days into the no conditioner and running fingers though my hair (I have now turned to twisting, but no ripping). At the moment, I have lots of little, and some big chunks of hair separating at the base. About 8 of them have started to form some semi decent knots. Ok. Questions. Does twisting your baby dreads create a different texture to either parlmrolling or twist and rip? If so, anyone have any photos? I have to wear a hat at work, and even though I don't have to tie my hair up, I kinda like it off my neck. Is it better to leave it down under the hat, or is it ok to put my hair up in a loose pony tail. Are hats and tying back going to hamper my efforts? Can you train your locks to go a certain way? Like if I leave my hair with a side part, will my front dreads eventually just stay curled over? Also is it better to separate my hair while twisting now, to keep them from going huge, or should I wait till they start knotting up a bit more and then separate them? I am sure I have more questions, but none that I can think of at the moment. I will post a pic eventually, though my sister has my camera and cord Thank you for any help.
Not really, in fact palmrolling in my experience does pretty much nothing, twist and rip, just keeps it from turning into a beaver tail yes and no, wear a wool hat if you can, this will help your dreads frizz, try to leave them down as much as possible, it will help them too lock They will go what way they want, there so heavy that they really cant be trained, thats kinda what dreads are, but you can try, better to seperate as you go because it takes forever once it gets too bad........... You will need to seperate all the time at the start, its normal. My advice, chill the fuck out wait a year and then start thinking about what you should do, post a pic so we can see whats going on
