They been took away payphones in my city. What about your's? So what I don't get is how come you can't leave the car accident scene to go home to make an emergency phone call since you have no cell phone if the accident victim's life depended on it? What's up with that?
So many people have cell phones today that it's not profitable to keep these pay phones operating. Where I live in Europe, there are still quite a few pay phones that are operated by the government run phone co., but you rarely see someone using them. I don't think they'll be around for much longer-maybe a few, but not many
I'm pretty sure you can't be traced you on a payphone. In todays world if your privacy cant be recorded its nothing worth letting the public use it.
there's still payphones here, although they're rare since nobody uses them anymore anyway. the leaving the scene of an accident to make a phone call laws haven't changed yet because it takes a long time to change a law and they have no interest in changing a law that makes money for the government. although if you get a reasonable judge and more importantly, a decent lawyer, you can still get away with leaving the scene in the scenario you described.
They took out every payphone in town years ago. This is old news. However, you can drive about 10 miles and use the payphone at the first gas station in the next town. I remember there used to be a payphone outside of the junior high school when I went there, and I used it a few times to call home or my grandma or whatever. Then when I was either right about to get into high school, or after I started high school, they yanked that sucker out of the wall and left the empty hole and a few wires hanging. Since then, they've all been slowly disappearing.
Yup, and I have a pay as you go, so sometimes I'm out of money and minutes and can only scrape some quarters for a quick call.
Here there are still some around but no where near as many as there use to be. Don't know what would have happened to Superman in today's world.
I still see lots of them here half of them dont work most of the time due to punkass kids busting them up
IN NYC there are a few left(can you believe it)- they went the way of the cigarette machine - and the parking meters that you had to pump full of quarters -now you can use your debit card or buy a parking card for 20 bucks and swipe a parking space for 3 bucks an hour- modern technology> for better or worse
There are few and far between here. But thankfully the day I had van issues and no cell, there were two with in a few blocks of each other. Had to get some change from the gas station. It weirder everyone out to say the phrase "may I get some change for the pay phone"
There are a few pay phones around hear , west of Phoenix AZ USA. Most ever one has a cell phone and dont nead to use a pay phone . If you want a a 911 cell phone , just for emergencies , one that you done use much. You can get a phone that uses a pre pay card . I used a track phone , it worked ok , but I used it a bunch and it got expencive , so I got a cricket that I pay by the month . desert rat
there are still plenty of pay phones in New York, but roughly half of them have fallen into disrepair.
