Almost two months ago I went off my birth control pill for the first time in over 9 years. I only went off of it because I forgot to pick up a new pack in time, and so I had to wait for a natural period before starting it again. I didn't expect to notice a difference, but now that I am off the pill I never want to go back on it! I feel fantastic! My skin looks awesome -- I havent had a break out since I stopped the pill! And I feel more in tune with my body. I didn't start the pill again yet... I'm loving being 100% medication-free too much! I am wondering if anyone out there uses natural birth control. What is your method? How well does it work? What do you use? Fertility bracelet? Cat's Claw? And as for emergency contraceptives... I've used Vitamin C in the past. Anyone have experience with Vitamin C or Parsley? Anything else? Have a great day!
Isn't a fertility bracelet, for getting pregnant?! My ex used tried Cat's Claw , it seemed to work at the time - no babies here, but it gave her diarrhea. Also an ovulation kit can help, we used it for a cpl months, and just skipped penetration or used a condom on her fertile days. No idea on natural emergency contraceptives tho :/
I think the bracelets are also used so you know which days you're most likely not to get pregnant. I could be wrong though.
I would say try a different pill, there are so many types out there I am sure one it bound to make you feel 'normal' I would not risk natural remedies.
Haha I was wondering when abstinence and anal would make their way into this thread. And as for trying another pill, I was happy with the one I was on compared to others I've tried in the past, but I'm an all natural kind of girl... No chemicals in my food, cosmetics, etc (hell, even my condoms are vegan). For almost the first time in my life, I'm on no pharmaceuticals whatsoever! It's a great feeling... And my skin looks better than it ever has. My family has a history of needing hysterectomies, or developing cancer of the uterus, so I feel strange causing my uterus to artificially shed it's lining every month. I mean, it's not natural. At all! I've been tricking my body into thinking it's pregnant every month since I was 12! Ive really only had 12 or 13 natural periods in my lifetime (began my period at age 11, had natural periods for almost a year, and 2 since I've been off the pill). It seems so wrong. Anyway... I'm old enough now that I'm not sleeping with people that I wouldn't want to father my child, and I've been in a relationship with the same man for nearly 5 years, so it's not a terrible thing if I wind up pregnant... Other than the fact that we both don't want kids within the next 15 years or so, and I doubt I have the patients to be a parent. We're using condoms, as mentioned, but I'd like a 'back-up' method that's less radical than the BCP.
Ok not to be mean here, If it were me as much as I hated the pill, if I wasn't ready for a kid I would stay on it and not, leave things to chance. Babies are a serious gamble too take. I wouldn't want to just rely on natural and condom. Jmo
I heard the fertility awareness (I think that's what it's called) method is really effective, but you also have to be very meticulous with it. But I've heard people have a lot of success with the bracelet method, and combined with condoms you should be good.
WE did that, and it worked as long as we were strict about when we made love-if you do it in the more fertile times...ooops! That's how our 3rd child came to be.... I don't want my wife on bcp's, because she has high cholesterol and other problems, and I'm afraid if she gets on bcp's, her libido will go down to nothing-it's now much now. I had two exes whose libido was wiped out by bcp's-I think it's better to do things naturally if you can...
Thanks! Glad to know others have been (mostly) successful with these methods. I'll have to get to know my cycle better.
It's not exactly birth control, but there are abortifacient herbs (read=cause abortion) that you can take before having sex (say start a few days before) that prevent pregnancy. If you think it's abortion, well, that's your choice.
It's not terrible if you get pregnant, even though you don't want kids, but it's okay because you can just terminate it anyway? Huh? It's defintely a good idea to get yourself off BCPs since you've been on them for so long, but I wonder if you'll have the same long bleeds with your natural periods that you used to. I'd be more concerned about that than I would be with what other contraception to use. If you're happy to continue to use condoms and you use them correctly, then what's the problem?
