My daughter got up from her second sleep (no school, snow day) and she is really ill. She stumbled into the kitchen and asked me to make her a hot toddy and take out some homemade soup for her.

This girl could eat soup every meal but only if it is homemade.

Then she requested hamburger mince with mashed potatoes for dinner tonight.

I think she is packing in all her comfort foods in the hope that it makes her feel better.

My go to is usually homemade soup or chicken and dumplings.

My son will usually request basil chicken or rosemary lamb.

What are some of your comfort foods. :)

I'm not a comfort eater- if I'm not in a good mood (may it be physically or mentally) I have no appetite at all!

I am the exact opposite. no matter how bad of mood i am in a huge fat delicious pile of food always makes me a happy for a little bit.

as far as comfort food. it don't matter. I like pretty much all food. I am not picky at all.

but you know what. now that I seen this posting I decided my comfort food. chips and guacamole. I get comfy on the couch and can eat probably like 6 avocados and a whole bag of corn chips while watching some tv. so yeah thats my comfort food choice haha.

    Food is sustenance, not comfort.

You are correct and every once in a while I find it comforting to be sustained by Cheese Grits or Cream Of Mushroom Soup.

I am exactly the same way... I always lose weight when I'm feeling bad because I just can't eat.

But I am with your daughter Heat, in that I would eat soup for every meal if I could.

If its super cold outside and you have been working long hours coming into a warm house with a cup of hot chocolate is the best. I love hot chocolate, don't matter how old ill get.

Comfort food though is anything that gives my body the complete satisfaction in which not a single thought of hunger enters the brain. Its almost like recieving a present as a kid on christmas. There were times when i didnt have much to eat and didnt know how to cook and it was no fun. So when someone, or your with a group of people all pitching in to feed yourselves, that is real special. The times when everyone wants to help because we all know how good its going to be, because we are all very hungry.

I love soup as well. Only thing is with all of us liking it I have to make it often. :)

I keep teasing her that she is never going to leave home unless she learns how to make her own or she will starve. :)

Fish soup is what I go to if I'm not feeling well.
potatoes, onions, halibut, salt and pepper. maybe a little to thicken it.

hehe... luckily soup is usually pretty easy to make.

I drive my boyfriend crazy because I make it so often for dinner and he is not the biggest fan of soup.
