Yo guys. Day 15 of the no combing neglect method is underway. Hair is getting noticeably stringier and thinner in parts, kind of separating. Sort of clumping together in parts in the back, but my understanding is that it will take a few more months at least until noticeable changes start occurring. My question is about getting the hair wet. Is it okay to run my fingers through my hair in the shower? The scalp starts to get itchy sometimes and thus I tend to massage it with my fingers and whatnot in the shower. Still using shampoo to keep it clean though. What do you think about this idea? In the shower.. after wetting and cleaning, moving all of my hair towards the front of my scalp with my fingers. Think of it as manual backcombing. Afterwards, towel drying and neglect as normal. Tried this last night and hair looked knottier. Seems like it might speed up the process a tad bit. Any insight?
I wouldn't recommend running your fingers through your hair. It will slow the process quite a bit. Itchy scalp is normal. Even more so in the beginning. Your scalp is going to have to adjust the the new washing routine, part of the process. I like to scrub my scalp too. I just scrub one spot then lift my fingers straight up and go to the next spot, instead of running my fingers through my hair. I'm not sure I understand what your saying in the last part there. Though it's probably best to keep your fingers out of your hair, use your palms if you can.
jesus christ. are you really that worried about it that you need to ask 30 questions? just stop brushing your hair. how you part your hair in the shower won't help the process.
Dude is this not a forum for discussing the topic of dreads? A friend of mine sent me the link to this site because he thought it might be helpful in answering some questions I was having. No need to be a douchebag.
dont get yer feelings hurt over it guy. i already answered your questions. just stop brushing your hair. thats all you need to do
Yeah I understand that. You didn't really answer any of my questions. Other people have been much more helpful. Did you get over 6,000+ posts in this forum by being a prick to others?
of course you are assuming this ... perhaps a lot of those answering also just talk a bunch of crap instaed of reading the sticky's
Not sure... I did browse through some of the stickies and I found a lot of useful information, but i just had some questions kind of spur of the moment that i didn't see in there, which is why i started this thread. i understand i'm new to the whole dreading thing so i may be a "newb" but i was always taught that asking more questions than not is a good thing, not a thing to be called out on for To each his own though.
oh don't feel bad, you'll have a good ol proper nest on your head in a few months and then you'll be able to run every new kid into the ground too
