where´d you hear that? they´ll start to combine at anytime if you let them. i think i only "made" two congos by putting a rubber band around a few dreads just so the roots would learn to be together, the rest just kinda happened, then happened some more. i´ve literally "lost" half of my dreads to congos. i started with about 24 roots (dreads, that is) and now i only have about 12 or so, maybe less.

yea but around 2/3 years is when the hair begins to really dread naturally... i mean your hair is combed and not really in a dread mood so to say... after about a year of defined dreads the hair begins to dread faster and move faster in a sence... causing congos to form faster and its also when the hair begins to dread in the way it wants and not the way you backcombed for those who backcombed.... thats what my friend stretch says.... he has had his locks for 13-14 years now? Here is a pic of him.

I have always regretted BackCombing my dread's in…. I love the natural way I just didn’t want to take the time……

but looking at MelvnDoo’s hair give me hope and inspiration..

you see i guess iv just been afraid to let my dread grow as they are now gooo free and forget about them. Because a close friend of mine did that when she got her’s about a year ago and now half of her hair is straight hair then dreads hang from it and she had really curly hair before she got dread’s just so she wouldn’t have to straighten her hair every day..

sooo the hold "letting your dread's grow out naturally" didnt work for her iv just been soo so so afraid of this happening to me if i let them be…

she did somethin wrong because dreads knot to the root in time... she did something to tighten them so much in one spot that they couldnt do anything at the root. did she use wax? Or get them DONE somewhere?

Hmmmm she got them back combed by a friend of her's.. not a salon... i do think she used wax.. but i know she stoped soon though cause the hole reason she says her hair did that grow out is casue she was wayyyy to lazy to even touch her hair... witch should have been working a merical on the dread's..... but instead its not..... its all like 5 or 6 inches of growen out roots ill ask her more questions to get the full storie tomorrow

yea do that... i mean its normal to have a few inches of straight hair... and i know if you take horse pills to make your hair grow at a abnormal pace it can cause what you are saying cause the hair grows 2 fast for the dread process to keep up

ive never seen anyone with really long, undreaded roots. i mean, i even think my hair grows pretty fast, but it´s never fast enough that it outweighs the hair knotting up by itself. i´d like to see some pictures of this girl, too
