No doubt during Interglacial times while man migrated south along the pacific coast and he/she feed on shellfish and other marine organisms. But they also fished along the coast and killed large seals and sea otters Hotwater
I don't have a problem with deer hunting. I wish i could have it often to be honest. I grew up on a deer ranch where people did go hunting.. And a step father that spent entire deer hunting season and i can say that is some of the best eating i had.
Damn right they ate deer although it wasn’t as tender as mastodon, saber-toothed cat, or the common ground sloth hotwater
What people did in prehistoric times is not really relevant. We have the option to not kill animals and still live during these times and it doesn't matter what the situation would have been like a long time ago. I personally have no problem with hunting for food as long as it is not an endangered animal or anything. I think hunting is better than raising animals to die in terrible conditions. My family hunts deer and elk and they are quite delicious I have to say. I have a major problem with people hunting for fun and not using the animal though or things like hunting elephants just for the tusk.
I think you’re taking this a wee bit too seriously But I too believe if you catch it and kill it, you eat it Hotwater
Think farther back. Southwest african coast. Hunting of large animals was a later development. Seafood is brain food they say. Easily gathered high quality food sources contribute to the evolutionary development of human brain. My point is that the taking of large mobile species is not what initially gave the advantage although our spread into continental spaces was facilitated by our learning to hunt. Hunting however is not necessary but it doesn't really matter as everything dies regardless whether you kill it or not.
No doubt hunter-gatherers enjoyed a diet of edible plants, tubers, shellfish, and other delicacies such as worms and insects, but those tasks were assigned to females and children - not males. Males scavenged for large prey and in time developed methods by which to slay them. That’s the point I was trying to make to the wuss who couldn’t stomach looking into the eyes of the prey. Hotwater
I won't, I'll simply do the decent thing, and off myself. As for population control, what about the overpopulation of humans on this planet? That fact is causing major issues and problems for us, but I doubt anyone would be advocating a "human hunting season" to bring down the human population. Humans do more to damage the planet than any other living creature, which isn't "tree hugging" sentiment, it's the fact of the matter. I have no problem with hunting if it's for food though. Killing for "sport" or "fun" though, I don't really agree with. I also don't like the Chinese mentality that an animal must feel maximum pain and suffering before it dies, even if it is for food, that is simply barbaric in any decent person's book.
Not to mention that it is the fault of humans that there is an overpopulation of things like deer anyway because we murdered all of their natural predators. Deer overpopulation is really a big deal, there are rare plants that are being obliterated because there are way too many deer snacking on them.
Precisely. It's like people who say cats should be killed because they are endangering certain bird species whose numbers are dwindling. Conveniantly overlooking the fact that it was the actions of humans that caused the birds to become rare in the first place. Animals are having to suffer and are being demonized for problems that were caused by humans. They are carrying the can for mankind's mistakes.
unfortunately, time machines don't exist yet so we can only deal with the problems we have now. we can't undo the mistakes of the past, we can only deal with their consequences.
