b4? Am speaking to this so called "stg." from the army thats stationed in SPain ( which i didnt know we had bases there) and shes selling me a 2005 honda for 1200.00 and its sounds too go to be true.... not sure if i should send her my info... ^ thats the email responds
I have a friend who purchased every car they have owned from those police auctions. They have bought some great cars over the years for far less than they would have had to pay anywhere else. Not sure if you have those auctions where you live but it might be worth looking into.
I asked her to call me to see that shes legit or if she has a facebook but says she doesnt have a FB and didnt response about if she can call me to talk about the deal.
If it sounds to good to be true, it usually is. I'd never buy a car I didn't drive first unless it was a fixer from auction and I was in, under and all over that car before bidding. At that it would be a very low-ball bid. Ebay...... no I wouldn't. 2cents
If a reputation on eBay is less than 100% I usually don't buy, especially not for a car. My mom seems to only buy cars off both eBay and Craigslist, usually in the $2000 range, and usually only last a year or two before something massive goes wrong. But on the other hand, she isn't very good at the internets, or dealing with people in general. It does sound too good to be true for that price, but maybe they are just trying to get rid of it.
Great advice I would never buy a car without seeing and driving it either . And this one really doesn't sound right to me . If she has 'free" freight back to the states via military cargo , then why is she selling it so cheap ? Way below blue book value . Is the title clean ? and can you run a check on it ? Does ebay peotection cover overseas purchases ? What's her ebay feedback rep. If it's not 100 % forget it . Try your local craigslist , you can get some good cars cheap sometimes . And since when do we have a military base in Spain ? But then again who the hell knows with the U.N. anymore , just one big unhappy family . In any event J , I think I would let this one go . Or really do your homework on it . It just doesn't sound right to me . Hell , she could wind up sending you a toy model car in a 6"x6" box for 1200 bucks . Oh well I guess you could huff the glue , after putting it together for ten minutes and being out 1200 bucks . The directions would probably be in Chinese , but maybe you will get lucky and they will be in Spanish .
Well eBay tends to be pretty good when it comes to protecting your purchase. But it's probably far from full proof. Seeing as your dealing with a good amount of money I would avoid the transaction. For all you know the car may be everything she say's it is but there could be 1 huge problem that's going to make the car break in a week.
This is a scam. I've seen this exact story on craigslist a couple years ago. No one would sell an 02 honda accord in perfect condition and with only 47,000 miles for $1,200. That's ridiculous. Do not give this person your information.
100% scam do not even respond to it the tippoff if always the politeness ...and also the US military will not ship personal items such as cars ..they only ship military items and occasional illegal arms sales and cocaine
i have purchased exactly nothing off of ebay. and only when my wife was alive anything off the internet at all. i DO know some really fine wonderful artists who sell really good wonderful stuff on line. on ebay and etsy and cd baby and craigs list and cafe press i think its called, someone i "know" (on line) even has a book of theirs on amazon. but no, i can't even imagine purchasing a car that way. got no paypal and don't use credit. my wife did, which was how we got those couple of things back four or five years ago, whenever it was. but not before nor since then.
i was also thinkng that they wouldnt let just any asshole ship a ton plus car overseas on a plane. you'd have to be a serious bigwig and your 1200 dollar honda wound be sold locally. MAIN POINT _ If you buy on craigslist, don't discuss ANYTHING unless you are standing there face to face. Treat it like a drug deal.. Its all basically tax evasion anywyay...
When i bought my car in 2005 that im still driving to this day it took me 8 months to find it. I looked at all kinds of similar models, and as others said, test drove each one. Man your gut will tell you something is not right if you listen to the car. I good friend i grew up, her dad is a mechanic and he look at the car as well. When i finally put down the money i felt good about buying it. If you go the internet way, it sounds like you are being too impatient and want the car NOIW NOW NOW....bad idea. You might as well take the money and throw it in the fire, because in end it sounds like your gonna be doing just that. You car will last longer, you will get more out of your dollar, and you wont look like a fool if you do your homework. Ill buy a oldschool gameboy game off of ebay because its $10. I wouldn't dare roll the dice with a car. It might look all pretty and what not tell you look under the engine and it needs the timing belt replaced in 200 miles with will cost several hundred. It might need aligmnets who knows what else. Id listen to everyones negative response on this one can can it.
she's been trying to sell her car for quite a long time post #37 http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?p=540428
Its a scam! I have sold cars on eBay and let me tell you if a buyer wants me to call them so they know I'm real I will every time. Why wouldn't I? I mean I would do anything to get sale going to get rid of my car and to get the money.
if i was trying to sell a car or basically make a lot of cash i would set fire to my nipples no less talk to the buyer on the telephone.
