In your opinion, which do you prefer when you purchase or grow shrooms. Caps that are light in color (gold, white) or caps that are dark (brown, black) in my experience the darker caps seem to be higher in psilocybin, or i guess they make me trip out much harder seeing as i cant really measure the psilocybin...

All Psilocybe cubensis (unless they are albino strains) have a light golden brown color to their caps when they are mature (the veil breaks and the cap starts to flatten) and to my knowledge none have black caps unless they are covered with spores which means you didn't harvest them at the right time.

Yea, unless they are bruised blue or purple, the brownish/black is just spores. So the color of the cap in that regards doesn't matter.

Well ive had caps that were dark, even black before. They certainly weren't of the cubensis genus and they were usually strong. Thanks for opinions though...

    It is not an opinion....

Post a picture next time you get a black mushroom... Id like to see it.

    Do they look like these?

And cubensis is the species not the genus (Psilocybe)
