I'e been suffering from different types of depression for about 8 years now, I don't wanna live. I've went to counseling, and took anti-depressants nothing is working. I don't know what to do. It would help a lot if anyone knew of anything for depression relief even if it is temporary, I used to use marijuana in case I got violent towards people or myself but it doesn't help anymore so I need to quit that...
Depression is usually situational... figure out what the situation is that's causing it and change that. If the situation has you trapped, then it get's more difficult.
Depression is a bitch , no doubt about it . Have you tried all the medications out there ? And there not working ? For some people they don't , or stop working . There are new drugs that doctors have that ,when taken along with antidepressants that seem to help some . However , some can raise blood sugars . There are new treatments with eletromagnetic brain stimulation with magnets , that seem promising . And there is shock therapy for those that nothing else works for . You need to talk to a doctor about the treatments out there . Getting off pot will help too , and alcohol isn't good for depressed people , as it's a depressant itself. Exercise helps too , as it raises seratonin levels in the brain . And I think being around other people doing things in a social setting helps too . And I know it's hard to get up and go out with depression , but it may help . Figure out what you like to do some new hobbies , and find groups that have the same interests as you . I think a lot of problems with depression today stems from the fact we isolate ourselves to much . We are social creatures and need interaction with others . We seem to be losing that in todays tecno. driven culture . And you're talking about it with others here , some of who have the same problem . See your doctor or a new one , and talk with them . You can do it , and I wish you the very best in your struggle . And NEVER give up , or give in . Keep fighting it , and get out in this great big beautiful world we have and discover it .
I don't know whats causing it I tried exercise and hobbies, nothing. I can't be with people because nobody wants anything to do with me. Antidepressants seem like the only thing left but my docter doesn't believe me and before the antidepressants start working wich i doubt they will i'm afraid ill hurt my grandma, the only person i love but i cant help it im a really nice person but when im like this i cant controll what i do
Could you possibly find a different doctor? and I would have said smoke weed, but you've already said that does not help anymore but that is what I do and it still helps. But yeah maybe if you found a different doctor they would let you try anti-depressants, though keep in mind they don't work on everyone and can have some nasty side effects so be careful about that if you do try any. Also therapy along with taking medications is what I've heard is the best way to go about it since medications just reduce symptoms and do not cure the issue.
This struggle is goin on way to long, no one cares, i can't do it anymore, the only option for me is death
Well I am not quite sure what your exact situation is...but I have to recommend you don't give up just yet. I mean I've been there and I've been depressed ever since I can remember I was even depressed as a child so that's at least 12 years. Is there anything you get enjoyment out of? or is there anything that helps you feel any better? And have you ever attempted suicide before? I have and trust me it's not fun and its much harder than you might think so I really heavily advise against it. sorry if this doesn't help any but I'd rather try than ignore your post.
try comedy ..the problem is you're taking your emotions to seriously https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eEqCBl65YZI"]YouTube Poop - Mario and Luigi go to Court - YouTube if all the comical relief doesn't help..go to dairy queen and order an ice cream cone then stick it on your forehead inside dairy queen an assert yourself with the idea of chaos and something to prove and say this "I'm the ice-cream people, we've come to raise the public perception and cross the cultural barriers, please join, us thank you."
I think I saw a doctor say, in one of those food documentaries, that large doses of Niacin (an over the counter supplement) is good for depression ... going to look it up ...brb
go to www.suicideforum.com or www.befrienders.org (hotline info) you can probably get better with some kind of treatment here is some info that I should probably try to turn into a sticky thread Treating Depression - Conventional Treatments Medications There is much to criticize about meds, but if you are at risk for suicide, it's probably a good idea to take some meds, at least for a while. There are a bunch of different meds. No one med works well for everyone. Sometimes a particular med is ineffective, or has side effects. Meds often take time to "kick-in", so it may be worthwhile to stick with taking a scheduled med even if it seems like it is not working. If you feel a med isn't working, you may want to the prescribing physician and ask to try another medication. Some people go through many meds before finding one that they like. You also might want to try a different pdoc. Not all doctors are equally competent. If you decide that you don't want to take a medication anymore, it's important to let your pdoc know about this. Suddenly ceasing to take a medication can have side effects. Usually when you stop taking a medication, the dose is reduced gradually Therapy There are different styles of therapy, and if you are dissatisfied with one kind, you might want to try another. Some therapists are really terrible, some are great. Some therapists are just a better match than others. It can be good to shop around and see if there is someone that you like. Some people benefit from having very intensive therapy (therapy everyday, or long sessions of therapy). There is also group therapy. Some people prefer the group interactions to meeting with a therapist. Group therapy is also often cheaper. other medical treatments Certain medical conditions can mimic depression, or make depression worse. You might want to get an exam from a medical doctor check for these conditions. Sometimes people have vitamin deficiencies, such as b12 and d3, which are easy to check for and easy to treat. rTMS (repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation) and ect (electro-convulsive therapy) rTMS is a relatively new form of treatment for depression. Relatively few people who get rTMS get positive results, but those who do often get very positive results. It also has far fewer negative results than ect. Electro-convulsive therapy is the modern term for shock-treament. The current form of treatment applies much milder electrical current under anesthesia. Treatments are often given in multiple sessions (up to 10?). Ect is often given to people who have not been helped by medications or therapy. Many people have positive results from ect, but others experience no benefits or feel worse after treatment. Memory loss is a frequent side effect of treatment. alternative treatments many people find alternative and self-help methods effective. If you are feeling suicidal though, it is important to pursue the conventional treatments under the supervision of a doctor at least until you no longer feel suicidal. Chinese Herbal Medicine and Acupuncture These treatments have been endorsed by the world health organization for treating a variety of conditions. These treatments can be effective for treating depression and a variety of other related conditions, such as mental illness and insomnia. These treatments are often expensive though, and as with all treatments, the quality varies with the competence of the practitioner. It's good to shop around. If you are also receiving conventional treatments, it is good for both your md and acupuncturist to know what treatments you are receiving Self-help methods There are a variety of self-help methods for depression that people find to be effective. Exercise, meditation, and dietary changes can help. regular, gentle, aerobic exercise A half-hour per day of gentle aerobic activity has been found to be an effective treatment for depression. One study found that it was effective as treatment with the drug "zoloft". An intensity level that is just sufficient to break a very slight sweat is recommended. Exercising for more than a half-hour per day is not necessarily needed, though some people might want to exercise for longer. Really intense exercise with heavy sweating is often counterproductive. It's important to try to exercise every day, or at least three times per week, in order to get the benefits of exercise. Exercising for longer periods once or twice per week may not produce any benefits meditation meditation may be helpful with depression, and also anxiety, insomnia, and stress-related conditions. As with exercise, regular practice is necessary in order to get good results. It is important to meditate as regularly as possible in order to get good results. It is better to meditate for 10 minutes every day than to meditate for two hours once a week. There are many methods of meditation. A simple method is to simply sit on the edge of a chair, with your back straight, with your eyes closed. Breathing gentley, trying to clear the mind. You might want to look for more information about mediation on-line. Joining a meditation group can greatly increase the benefits of a meditation practice. yoga and qi-gong These practices can also be benefical for treating depression and other illnesses. Some forms of these practices may not be appropriate for people who have certain, serious, mental helath conditions Dietary Changes There are a number of approaches to diet, but I recommend reducing or eliminating consumption of processed foods, and emphasizing fresh, lightly cooked whole foods served warm. Not consuming anything cold (including water) can help. Foods like icecream are especially bad. Eliminating processed foods is one of the most important steps. Left-overs are also bad. Minimally processed foods, such as uncooked, frozen vegtables are fine, so long as no chemicals have been added. Minimally processed rolled oats and dried beans are ok too. Dried beans can be prepared realtively quickly in a pressure cooker. Canned beans are much worse. Canned beans should at least be thoroughly rinsed, especially ones with chemicals. Frozen, pre-cooked dinners are especially bad. Small amounts of chicken, fish, and meat can be helpful. Processed meats should be avoided as much as possible. Many people find that sugar, wheat, and dairy products make their depression worse, and therefor you might want to experiment with eliminating these foods. While generally it's good to eat lightly cooked foods, a hanful of raw walnuts per day may be beneficial for many people. miscellaneous I recommend the book "Curing Depression with Chinese Medicine" by Bob Flaws. The book contains information about many of the treatments above. The book also has additional information about an acupressure self-massage, agarwood incense, and jasmin flower tea. Finding the reason why you are depressed and trying to fix it is often very effective. Often people can get to this with therapy. Fixing problems in a relationship, or getting out of an abusive relationship or situation can help. Some other helpful things Positive, caring contact with other people and with pets. Volunteering is one way to help find community. Watching some funny movies and having some laughs in general. In addition to exercise, just getting some fresh air and sunshine. Giving up recreational drugs and alcohol. Taking a break from the world news or stressful situations. While it is good to care about others, it's possible to care too much and to over-stress yourself. Taking a vacation from worry can make you feel better, and be better for everyone in the long run. You can't do much to help others if you yourself are unable to function. This one is a bit awkward to mention, but important. For men, not ejaculating frequently, especially during the winter time.
this is a video which is funnier, I think https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=BagYRDEFvy0
I have lived with bipolar disorder for 11 years. I've been to hell and back many times. It took a long time to get on the right combination of medications and therapy, but it can happen. Don't give up. Something will work. I recommend exercise too, especially if you can get out in nature. Nature has a way of helping us to look outside ourselves and see that the world does make sense sometimes. Music can help too. You're not alone.
Psychedelics can have a permanently lasting positive affect on you. Specifically for me it was my last trip, which was on psilocybin mushrooms, almost a month ago. My most intense experience. I used to be in a really depressive state before that, and some of my friends are surprised to see how much I've turned around. There's still crap I struggle with, but my experience has changed me on the inside and has helped me really connect with Jesus and learn A LOT of things. I know the way I was going about things in the past was all wrong. But then again, my depression was more situational. I would recommend them, but taking psychedelics has its own set of risks. Definitely no negative physical side effects, though. But for me it was a very intense experience, and I felt like the only things really keeping me from getting lost were Jesus and music. Also having a sitter who could bring me water and stuff. If nothing else has worked for you, it might be an option but definitely DO NOT do it alone. Another thing is that I had an intense trip on LSD before that, and even though I really wanted to learn and apply things to my life, I came out feeling very confused and the dose I took felt way too intense at the time. I also felt unprepared, kept wanting it to end at the peak, and I didn't remember parts of the trip. Like I would listen to a whole album, but only remember one or two songs. It wasn't all bad. It was part good, part bad, and it definitely opened up doors for my future highs on cannabis and my most recent trip on shrooms. If you're going to trip, you need to be rested and soak up every single moment. Where you're aware of everything. Music had a profound meaningful effect for me on my last trip. Definitely remembered all of it. And you need to be fine with letting go, not trying to control it. So take what you will from that. It's not a route for everyone, but I thought I'd share my experience since I've dealt really badly with depression before. This was relatively recent. Suicide will NOT make things better, I guarantee you. Trust me. I wish you all the best! Peace, love and positive vibes!
Thanks for trying to help, Thought I should let you guys know I'm alright for now, The anti-depressants i've started taken gave me an unusual side effect of better mood and lots energy right away even though I just started and I have a good supply of never ending weed, but I can't use pills and weed for ever....
