Hi I am having an increasingly rough time living in the "rat race" and living with people who don't care, walk all over you and systematically undermine everything I live and work for. I want to live closer to nature and a few people of like mind. My vision of the commune I would like to be a part of is one based on peace, nature, art, self expression and living off the land. Here's a little about me. I am 23, I am currently a baker, I have a girlfriend, no kids. I am a vegetarian, I like to play music and I like to go to the occasional music festival. I am fed up with electronic and plastic society, and above all... Money. Fuck money. It creates greedy people and kills love for your fellow man. I understand there is a need for some money, but overall I would like to cut my dependence on money way down. I have no debt and basically I am down for whatever as long as you let us do our thing. Currently in Michigan but I don't like the winters so a relocation to a warmer climate would be a plus. Hit me up with ideas and thoughts. Feel free to ask anything that I didn't mention.

The best you could do is drop out and live on your own in a van/bus, and busk for money to get food.
I know money will always be an issue but it doesn't have to be the thing in which mine and everybody's life revolves around. I want to make good, honest money and have it only go to things we need. every dollar you spend is a vote.

Love and freedom, brother...that's what life is REALLY about. It's so odd that you posted this thread (okay, not really...this is HipForums, after all) but I was thinking about 'leaving Babylon' earlier today and I'm close to setting a date. I feel like if 2012 doesn't result in some major change in this world, I am checking out somehow. All of the energy that has been created surrounding this year could easily be directed towards positive change, instead of sustaining the status quo. Money, politics and religion are all control systems used to maintain the illusion and keep us in invisible chains. I'm all for directing some positive intentional energy towards building a New World Community! (choice of words intentional, lol!) My skillset includes counseling and education as well as energy healing and meditation. Vegetarian as well, so I'm ready to get my hands dirty working with Mother Earth to feed my tribe! I'm no stranger to survival, either...I've got several GB of self-sufficiency manuals and other resources to share as well.
Yep, Like Fritz said, there is lots of other threads about want to's, doing it, and looking fors. That back to the Earth way of living. "like minded people". Me personallly, saving up all my pennies and dimes to buy some land, even if its only an acre or 2 , meanwhile living on ramen eating other peoples left overs. aha!
