I keep having this dream where I morph into a butterfly then suddenly I jolt forwards, awake, all sweaty. It's a nightmare... But it isn't scary.

Maybe it is a sign that you transform yourself or life into a very beautiful state. Now just follow through ;]

if it isn't scary, and i'm not doubting you on that, but then why are you calling it a nightmare? i kind of thought that WAS the definition of the term.

anyway morphing, we all change, perhaps more then we want to and not always for the better. the butterfly is pretty, generally short lived, but it can FLY.

so, in your dream world at least, fly somewhere. also you know, that world isn't this world. there was something about a zen master who dreamt he was a butterfly and one of his students dumping a bucket of water on his head. the way i chose to interpret that is that what is in that world is in that one and what is in this world is in this one. rather then other more common ones that reduce the recognition of the reality of diversity and its value.

Butterflies in dreams could mean you may be experiencing a transformation into a new way of thinking. Maybe you're undergoing a transitional phase.

It could mean lots of things though! Like the term "social butterfly", someone who is popular and outgoing. Does this describe you?
