I don't know if "Dune" is considered a great novel, but the 1984 movie version was horrible.

I would probaly have to say...................................
    uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh......................
if comics are included then I would say both of The Punisher movies
if they aren't then uhhhhhhhhhhhh........ it would have to say the Disney versions of the Grimm bros. stories.

Lord of the Rings, perhaps because the book is so good that any movie version would be lousey.

Starship Troopers and I, Robot are real lousy films too.

Haven't seen that, but "The Lost World," (the sequel to Jurassic Park) was terrible compared to the book. Really had very little to do with the book, really.

Yeah, Lost World was absolutely nothing like the book. I thought the movie version of Jurassic Park did a pretty decent job though.

Timeline made me cringe while watching it.

    So did Sphere.

    Poor Michael Crichton :(

    I'd have'ta disagree. I heartily enjoyed the Dune mini-serieses.

But really, compared to the book, "Even Cowgirls Get the Blues" was pretty bad.

I thought the LOTR films were quite good. Naturally there are differences from the books and and the film. I recall a lousey redition of the Fellowship released in the late 70's. The film was half animation and half live action. The producers wanted to use the profits of the first film to finance the rest of the trilogy. Fortunately the film failed at the box office. No other films were released.

I not certain, but I heard Peter Jackson is considering filming the Hobbit a couple of years from now.
