...the last time someone called you "Hippie"? I had on bells, clogs and was carrying a cloth tie-dyed sac from the Fairmont Hotel.
I was wearing an Indian shirt that I made myself, patched bell-bottoms, clogs, and tons of love beads, and I was carrying a patched purse. I think that's right...
Hmmm..... think it was when I was wearin' my handmade corduroy pants with patchie side panels and a mushie applique on the pocket, black turtle neck, long hemp necklace with a glass tear drop with a mushie in the center, and my birkenstock sandals with rag wool socks. I pretty much look like a hippie every day actually...
lol funny thread. i think i was never called a hippie. so um.. i feel out of the loop here should i wear what u guys were wearing if i wanna be called a hippie?
Just wear whatever makes you the happiest, Crayola. Bein' a hippy isn't just about what clothes you wear. BUT, if ya wanna be called a hippie I suppose you should get yourself some hippie threads. I got a lot of mine off of ebay from some really kynd mamas who make the clothes by hand.
I get all my clothes from Gypsy Rose, except for the things I make and my jeans--I buy regular jeans and slit them up the leg on both sides, then sew in a contrasting color. The last time I was called a hippie I was wearing my customary clothes; a floor length, brown, embroidered skirt with mirrors sewn into it, a sage green peasant blouse (also mirrored), a large peace sign necklace given to me by our Josh (UnionPacificRailroad)--I usually have that on, and a multicolored crocheted poncho with fringes. I was wearing my 25 year old deerskin, knee length fringed mocassins on my feet. I guess I usually am identified as a hippie by what I wear; bellbottoms and funky sweaters in the winter and long skirts and peasant tops in the summer. The kind of clothes I am most comfortable in.
It was yesterday in a bus on my way home from school. I forgot my mobile on the seat and one woman shouted: "Hey, you hippie girl, you forgot your mobile!" I was wearing jeans pants, red skirt with white flowers, my favourite white shirt from India shop, my mom's long earrings, my hand-made bag, red all-star shoes and red cap on my head.
Does 'flower child' count? If so, at the mall today. Had some yule shopping to do. I was wearing my 'I (heart) NY' shirt. Home-made headband, three peace sign neclaces, my ahnk earings, and my ahnk neclace my ex made for me. Then, blue jean shorts, and a 'vulcome' jacket. (popular skateboarding brand - good jacket) Happy Holidays.
It was wear casual clothes to work day. I wore a bright indian ink colored and designed shirt to work. I had a coworker mention that I reminded him of his hippy days. I felt very complimented.
Lots of patchouli.....! I've had folks at places I've worked know that I walked into the building by the scent of patchouli in the air... My dangling earrings, Birkenstocks, and, did I mention...the smell of patchouli??
i dont really dress like ahippy as such - moreso when i was younger - but people(even my mates) associate me as a hippy.. i think its cos im a vegie and i wear a lot of interesting old jewellery that no one else has... and im definitely never conservative, and always say socially unacceptable things..even when im trying to be normal for the "norms"
I was wearing a patch skirt with a black spaghetti strap shirt, barefoot with my hemp patch bag walking to school.
A smiley face t-shirt, long bluejeans, and bare feet. I'm sometimes called 'Shaggie' and 'anti-shoe' by my friends.
It was just the other day. A young couple came up to me at the store and said: Hey aren't you that old hippie lady that lives in the woods: I was wearing jeans and a red a, yellow and orange tye-dye t-shirt. I had flip-flops on cuz I was n a store, I usualy am barefootin' it or wearing my slippers when not in public. My hubby also called my a hippie(takes one to know one) I was standin' in the rain nekkid rubbing sea salt on me and he called me a hippie. My hair is still down to my waist and I still dress like I always did. I slit my jeans up the inside seams and sew panels of brightly colored colth in the front and back and have a great lookin' shirt, I have also sewn in panels on the side of jeans to make bellbottoms, I have done this since 68' It was cool to hear that others still use this method of recyclin' and imagination .. Far Out!!
