I am on my second day of taking Cymbalta 30mg. Yesterday I got very sick and wanted to throw up and ever 5 mins or so I'll get sick then be fine off and on.

I took it today, about an hour ago, and I don't want to get sick again. It is very unpleasant when I try to get sleep how do I avoid getting sick?

TL;DR: How do I avoid getting sick on Cymbalta?

Are you taking it with or without food? Morning or night? Have you contacted your doctor about this... maybe there are other options. Cymbalta is some nasty stuff.

Well it reacts to everybody differently, but it almost killed me.

What about taking it a few hours after you eat, so you have had time to digest the food. It's not a stipulation that it be taken with food, it can be taken with or without food.

What do you recommend for a 16 year old 140 pound to rake antidepressants?

Cymbalta should not be prescribed for a 16 year old.... It's in the dosing guide that it's not safe for children, teens and young adults. It's "approved" but there's a black box warning about elevated risks. Typical for a doctor to not read the dosing guide...

I can't prescribe, I just know this one can be really bad news. If you get it working for you, great, but you can't just stop taking it, just so you know that. Withdrawals are the pits.

My doctor prescribed it to me because I went to lexapro and wellbutrin, to just wellbutrin, then to nothing, then to zoloft, and then to higher doses of zoloft, and then to cymbalta. Guess he got lazy and prescribed something hardcore!

I am sick of doing all this I just want something to work for me : (

If you could give me something I can recommend to my doctor it would me much appreciated!

Well he gave you the Cymbalta because, being an SNRI, it "sort of" combines the effects of wellbutrin and lexapro (or other SSRI type drugs like lexapro) and he's figuring you need both. It might work for you if you get past the stomach deal... all of the similar drugs are going to have similar issues somewhere along the line. There's only a handfull of SNRI's and they are very similar in effects/side effects/withdrawal symptoms.

As I said, I can't prescribe, and can't even recommend a drug. These drugs are often over used these days. The best "prescription" for depression is.... Proper diet, sunshine, exercise, good people, stimulating work... blah blah blah... But it's true. Most depression is situational, not chemical.. these meds just numb you out so the bad situation doesn't matter anymore. They don't really fix anything.

    Best of health to you.

If you really need it, try getting passed the stomach issues like I said earlier. Meanwhile look deep inside and figure out what's really causing the problem and see if you can modify your reaction to that situation... maybe you can get passed the needing a pill stage.

I used to take Cymbalta. The "nausea" phase seemed to end around the second or third week of treatment.

Wat sort of depression problems is the drug for? Like the other dude was saying we can't prescribe, but can say what has worked on records and maybe with some of us personal experience but everyone needs different things, if they really need to take it. I find actually being out with friends and doing stuff lowers my depression/social anxiety disorder/MDD, though you don't have to be specific there are a lot of different things out there, I was using paxil/desipramine regiment helped out, though the xanax/ativan made it seem better but wasn't really curing the problem just treating it. but really just keep on it, tell your doctor what's happening and if it get's really bad you should look up if it's safe to just stop, by trusted sources and pharmacists, if they don't know, they have a trusted source to look into. If they don't say anything try another and keep looking into it.
It was hard to admit for me but I 'decided' not to be so depressed anymore, and that has helped a whole lot. Though seems weird, but I just got tired, I was bad drug abusing, cutting, lots of other immoral shit, and said enough, that helped a lot. To mentally be ready to get out of that state. Don't let it take over your life, especially so young, I've had depression in those years and took a lot of life from me, and I'm only 21 now. No Anti-depressants and I get 'off' days and seem tired/apethetic but not like I use to be all the time, now I'm a different person more alive, awake almost, but just try and get out of it, with professional help and looking inside. Seems odd to think your brain and self can help depression like that but it has changed my life and view on the world. Takes a lot to get to that point, but by 17 I was just tired of depression and completely sick of it, like in every aspect, literally could cut the tension in the air, as I switched it 'off' almost magically. If you're spiritual that may help in this, and if not just have faith in yourself and the power of the human mind.

if u keep getting sick today stop taking it and talk to your doc...
Cymbalta works good for me... i take it for bipolar II and chronic pain...
60 mg twice a day (the maximum reccomended dose)...
However I do feel really dizzy and sort of sick When im late taking it or I forget to take it... its also very important not to discontinue it suddenly...but if you have only been taking it for a few days you can go cold turkey with it...the next closest drug to it in that class is Effexor...Good luck

Tyrsonswood is wrong... Cymbalta is an ssnri... it effects seratonin and norepinepherine...which makes a difference...

sorry...not the same...ssnri class drugs have a synchronized release and absorption rate...they are also engineered to have a similar or same half-life...taking two different pills would not have these benefits...
