I'm not sure if bumping old threads is frowned upon or not.

well, that kind of makes sense. there's maybe a few weeks worth of "recent" threads (depending on how you define recent) and close to 8 years of old threads.

as a general rule, it's probably best not to bump old threads, at least until you get a feel for the culture and when it may or may not be acceptable.

there's a slow leak in my car's water pump. how urgent would you say fixing it should be?
