    http://www.care2.com/greenliving/can-slaughter-free-milk-deliver-what-it-promises.html

Ahimsa milk, based in the UK, is raising cattle in the dairy industry, without selling the males and older cows to slaughter.
The males and old females retire to sanctuaries, or so goes the plan.

    What do you think?
Is this a step in the right direction? (assuming you are not AR vegan, of course)

I kind of like the idea of more sanctuaries, as job creation and agricultural education.

In our farm we only take part of the milk.

Just need somebody to pay for the old cows and all the bulls, around 50% would be bulls but you can use them for transportation and work as long as theyre not too old...

This could not work on a large scale, but these people seem to love their cows like pets. Good for them. I don't think this addresses the fact that they are still artificially inseminating the cows, but I'm sure the're gentle and cuddle the cows afterwards.

    Bwahahaaa! Great visual.

I was really looking at the no kill side, as pregnancy and lactation are kind of connected.
    Been there myself.

I also take issue with AI being called rape. My uses is someone who has never been raped coined the use.

    Invasion, OK. ethically squishy, fine.

But rape has complexities for survivors far beyond the act itself. Society doesn't help, IMHO.

    Rant over.
