So my ex and broke up about 7 months ago. She immediately starting dating again and now has a boyfriend. We hung out like a month ago. It wen well but I just messed with me. I am still madly in love with her.

I noticed she had removed some pictures from facebook of us when were dating. I asked here about it. She said that she not trying to wipe out our past but she'd like to consider us friends.

I replied, "So you just see us as friends then?'

Then she went off with texts:

"I want you to be a part of my life and I want to be a part of yours. I thought we were doing a good job at becoming friends again"

    "do you not agree?"

    "Joe?"

Then she called me and I didn't answer.

Then she sent: "Alright well i don't know what else to say. If you change your mind and want to be friends and still be in each others lives the you know where to find me.."

Then the next time I went on Facebook she messaged me: "really?"

I have remained silent. I don't know what to say to her? I want her back and I think this was a good start because I feel like she was comfortable having me as a backup. Now she's seems to be much more concerned then she ever was after we broke up.

What are your thoughts on this?

If she immediately started dating after you broke up, it's more than a bit rude.

Seven months is by no means too soon to begin something new though.

If you don't want to "just be friends", there's no reason why you should have to. Just saying nothing to her though seems really lame.

It also seems too late to plead to get her back. I'm guessing that you've already made that case to her and she has said no.

I think that you could tell her that just being friends is not going to work for you, if that's what you want to say.

She should and probably would respect that. Tell her that you need to spend some time away from her. Then try to get over the break up. You don't have to be with someone new if you don't want to, but seven months seems like long enough to pine for someone who doesn't want to be with you anymore.

Maybe you can find someone new. If you're a sly dog, maybe you get her to set you up with her hot friend.

    :)

    hope everything works out

Yeah you should reply to her honestly on what YOU want.

Honestly, I'd be ok with remaining friends with an ex, but I'd definately need a set period of time to cut off from the said person that would be moving from relationship status to friend status. I'm not sure you ever got that period for that emotional transition.

But one thing I advise against is being on "the hook" for someone else. If you do remain friends with her then realize that it's over. If she in the future wants you back she's gonna have to earn you back.

Also the concern she's showing is regarding losing you as a person, I doubt it's concern about wanting to rekindle the romantic relationship.

Sorry bro, but that's not headed in the direction that you're hoping it is. In fact, I'd say it's heading in a bad direction. Just from the little I read there, and my own experience, if you're not really careful... you're about to lose her as a friend. She wants to stay friends, but nothing more. However, your actions are leading to miscommunication and confusion with her. She's getting the impression that you don't want to be friends any more... and seems to be that she's getting offended that you seemingly don't care to work out what is wrong (to her point of view).

So, be very careful how you tread... you could wind up losing a friend, if you're not... and at least for now, put dating her out of your head. You need to be her friend first, before you can be something more.
