Ok so just wanted to get this out there and get opinion's.

I think this falls into a woman thing too lol. So I've had 3 kids and we all know what that can to to our tummies. On top of it all when I quit smoking I piled on the weight, not happy about that.

But I have since started losing the weight and have lost 60lbs so far and have more to go. I am extremely happy about all this bit there are some side effects.

I've noticed the loose skin thing happening. It's really bad I've noticed on my right arm. My right arm has a disability called Erbs palsy.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erb's_palsy So because of this the skin is getting bad.

So was in passing tell the hubby this and he said should look into the surgery to get it fixed. I'm not one for plastic surgery but I have been thinking about it. I have the excess skin and it would be nice to get it removed.

But have I become one of those ppl? Should I just let it be and be happy wearing it as a badge and be proud of the weight I've lost. It would be nice as cloths would fit better.

And it wouldn't be for a few years yet still. I still have more to lose and want to prove to myself that I can keep it off type thing.

I dunno I'm just putting this out there to get it off my chest and what do you think gals?

My advice is no to surgery. Working out your arms as much as you're able should help, and you need to get to your goal before you consider anything so drastic as surgery.

I think about it... lost 80lbs myself, 30 to go. Seems a shame for all my hard to work to result in my still not happy at the way I look. (some excess skin for me too - tummy and thigh areas. It's not horrific and doesn't hang - it's just "extra"). Then again, are we really EVER happy at how we look - would something else bother me once I got a tummy tuck? Meh. I'm waiting til I get to my goal weight to really "decide".

Good luck in your decision making process. :)

My right arm will never recover, it is weak. Because of the erb's palsy the musles are weaker, I don't even have a full range of mobilty in it. I do go to the gym and run 4k's etc.

And I will get to goal before I do go on with anything.

If you don't get any surgery, it's still not a waste of hard work. Think of the health benefits of not being overweight. You're doing your health a world of good!!!

I lost about 100 lbs and have a slight excess skin issue. You can tighten out the skin slowly over the years with strength training, but I wouldn't have surgery. I'm much happier with a few bits of excess skin that 100 lbs of excess fat

Ahhhh anger your skin is still young.

I'm still not 100%. I am waiting till I reach goal and keep it off. After 3 kids and the loss I just know my tummy will not snap back and my arm is a lost cause as well.

I'm not sure, I'm happy to be losing and being healthy but honestly my arm really bugs me. Because it stands out already and the skin brings more attention. Plus it feels yuck at my elbow and I have more to go still

True that. lol. Yeah, there's not much snappin' back like a rubber band here either!

One of my friends had some plastic surgery recently... 5 weeks later and she's still swollen and sore... so IDK if I'm eager for THAT! Part of me would like to wear a bikini... the other part of me says swimsuit season is only 3 mos long anyway.

But think of the drugs lol.

It's still a few years of before anything, ok need to prove I can keep it off.

I'm really not that vain but, I'm really thinking about it, I'm not a bikini wearer but if normal cloths fit better with out the stuffed pillow look.

Plus it's kinda covered here so if the docs think it's right I'm in

lol- well you know what I'm talking about those pants fit, and they are tight so it's not like you are squishing in them, but it still just doesn't sit right and you can tell lol.

Totally agree... and I'm a total clothes horse now. The amount of clothing (and pretties in my lingerie drawer) now borders on offensive. The shoes to match all the new clothing IS offensive. ;)

if you reach you weight and keep it off, I don't see the problem with getting rid of the extra skin. That is if you can afford it and realize the dangers of surgery.

I think you should do what you feel best about

Don't worry about being one of "those people"

You'd probably feel so much more comfortable (physically, not just re: how you look) with that arm tightened up

I don't think you need anyone's approval and it sounds like you know what you want

I do and that is to feel good as well as look good and if it means going down this path I will.

I have worked hard at losing it and it should be my reward at the end.

I've made an appt to talk to my dr next week.

Why are married women so worried about looks? You've got 3 kids and i'm assuming a husband. You're not looking to hook up or impress anyone and it's not a health issue. So that leaves...what?
