LOL
listen to Peps Blodsband... they have also made a cover version of stir it up. its called styr den opp.
Funny, the thread said jam/prog rock..not Groovatron (BTW, from my own extensive experience, this is not the best site for "fan mining")! For folks who like moe., groovatron will work. I sort of like SOS, but I guess I need to try it live... now for MY promotion, see www.kannal.org and check out the MP3 page. tribal trance jam rock... okay... ya gotta try that now to see hwat the blazes I'm typing on about... Rar, I know street teaming is hard. I was an early SCI pirate.
people don't usually take to kindly to people plugging their or their friend's bands on messageboards, but i don't mind it. i'll check that band out, when i can. and am i the only one who thinks that to be a "jam band" you don't have to sound like phish or the dead??? to me, a jam band is a band that just jams and has fun, rather than hones their songs to a science in order to try and impress people. i was in a band earlier in the year, that ended up breaking up. we just got together and jammed and had a great time. we were a jam band. and we sounded nothing like phish. we made an album of songs, and i put a couple of the songs up here: http://www.purevolume.com/blackwatertransit and here's info on the album if anyone's interested: http://free.hostdepartment.com/7/777seven777/releases.html the band was actually called 'deluge', but i just signed up at purevolume with 'black water transit', just because we were thinking of changing the name to that. but we didn't. i'm doing a solo thing now, under the name deluge still, and my website is here if you wanna check that out, too: http://free.hostdepartment.com/7/777seven777 there's my plug. peace
Well..i find if i type groovatron for the title..NOONE LOOKS AT IT>>noone cares that i shamelesly promote my friends band...i also say they do dead covers and sound like phish..cuz well..the people on here are kinda nerominded..and they like phish the dead and the normal things like doors janis zepplin dylan blah blah blah......... so i figure try it a different way...type in jamband prog rock...and hey if someone digs that music maybe they will read this thread...maybe they will stop by the site...and maybe they will download a song...and hell maybe they'll even like it... groovatron is defnietly a live band...i do not like their studio stuff...i like to go out to the shows and dance my ass off....and crash at the house afterwards..they are very kynd boys...their personalitites also make it for me..i like to see them on the inside too....it's fun to be able to hang out w/ them .. and know what makes them tick.... not everyone will like groovatron..and that's ok...but i am a beliver and i will do whatever it takes to get their name out there...I want to help contribute to their success because i know that they have what it takes...i am incharge of the internet...that's what i do..promote online (and of course street teamin ) and..shhhh..i'm the unofficial band photographer who now has her pics officially posted on the groovasite!!!!! yaya! so thanx for anyone whose even browsed the site...i appreciate it..and so does groovtron..i can't tell u how many kids i've run into on here who actually HAVE SEEN THEM LIVE>>it's great.. so ...thank you for even reading this thread...if u have seen the name groovatron..then i've done my job... keep it surreal and keep dancin
I heard a lot of Phish influence (not sound alike but influence) in Groovatron. weirdly enough, I thought "wow, are any of these boys from Barefoot Revolution?" so I know how pervasive the phishy influence is in the new round of jam bands. Of course jam bands will have that hint of Dead or Phish. The GOG Dead is where it all started in the rock world. The concept was from jazz and home-made home spun music around the world before that. But the technology and intellectual reach that the Dead used gathered together sounds from around the world. For a good quick read on this, see Micky Hart's "Songcatchers." Now, with Phish gone and the dead a shadow of itself (hell, I hope I'm half that active in my 60s) there is a mantle seeking shoulders. I don't think Groovatron OR Kan'Nal are it, and my gut seems to lean toward New Monsoon since they have the spirit of early Cheese and the dedication of early Phish (cheese is in a decendancy). Rar, have your boys' web master/mistress add a community forum or place to leave messages. Go beyond the guestbook and have that chatter stir interest. Lots of people want some idea of why they should drop their bucks on an unknown (we true vibe freeks aside) and other people, not with the band, can often do that best. A yahoo group would not be out of line. use the special announcements function to send dates. see if any other band chat groups are talking about your boys. Invite those folks to your new web world. The SCI list spun off from Leftover Salmon and YMSB spun from cheese, as did the Keller list.
