hellooooo, my name is corey, and my girlfriend and i are tired of living a boring life. we seek people of similar interest to start a commune. we are also looking for existing communities. we may bey in our early twentys, but we have been researching for quite some time. so i believe we are ready to take the plunge. so please, hit me up with any info or interest. thank you for your time, corey and ashley
I'd suggest looking into established communities for your first time. Try IC.org, just wade through all those 'gated communities' for the actual communes. And try talking with the well-established communities around the Ozarks and Tennessee region. Twin Oaks, etc. Even if that's not the area you would like to be in, they are helpful to chat with and like visitors who want to learn how their communities work. Good luck in your search, guys.
I agree with Rutz. I'm assuming that you know that it is not too hard to start a community, but really hard to get a new community to last - not so hard to get one together, but some astronomical percentage last less than 5 years. On IC.org you'll find a large number of people looking to start a community, and a wide variety of approaches - some very regimented, some very free form. I live in an established community that is more at the relaxed end of the spectrum - one of our rules is "don't do anything you don't want to do."
there is this really great one called Alpha Farm in Deadwood, Oregon. They have an awesome website...just google alpha farm in deadwood oregon and it should pop right up. I am actually moving there in a month. like you guys I also seek out a different way of living, outside of the "normal society". i found this place and it's perfect for what im looking for. i hope you guys find what you're looking for. namaste
